Rob Ford's Toronto

Don Cherry has the eulogy well in hand, I'm sure...

Hopefully with the same sense of fashion as he displayed in 2010 at council. I will be very, very disappointed if he doesn't demonstrate the solemn propriety at this instance.

And he can finish by putting it in the pipe, in a manner of speaking.

I think Brown will be opposed to him running. He's trying to reposition the PCs as Liberals minus the corruption. So Doug will try to use Rob's death as momentum to run for mayor one last time--he'll lose.

I also see one last controversy surrounding Rob. It'll be over whether or not to give him a state funeral. Ezra will put together one of his petitions and talk about how Ford had a disease and we gave Jack one even though he visited a rub and tug. There'll be a column from Warmington calling for the same and Doug will do the media rounds. I wonder if they'll give in?
The Nation doesn't need facts like Robbie was a mayor (and unsuccessful one) and Jack was the leader of the Federal NP, Canada's Official Opposition in 2011.

Tory—if he has any political sense at all—will allow Rob to lie in state at City Hall, but the main event will be in Etobicoke.

I doubt a federal event is even on the table, since he was never elected to federal office.
I disagree, City Hall is not a funeral parlor or a Ford residence. If the Ford Family wants a"wake" then have it at Steak Queen or better yet a Ford Fester where Robbie is set afire on a pyre. The Nation can roast weenies and marshmallows; later the Nation can buy vials of ash (holy relic/souvenir?), the proceeds going to Dougie's next election life failure.

Has Doug booked Elton to sing Goodbye Etobicoke's Rose at the funeral yet?

"...It seemed to me
you lived your life
like a crackpipe in the wind..."
Bravo! Bravo! You win the internet for today!

He's a deeply religious man so clearly the funeral will take place at the family church...

He wouldn't get a federal or provincial state funeral but he could get a "civic" funeral, aka lying in state at City Hall and a service on the public dime. Maybe they can get the hearse boxed in by a police escort so he can travel in death as he did in life.
