Rob Ford's Toronto

You know, many people in treatment for cancer manage to do productive things, keep up with at least some of their family and work activities. Rob Ford never liked the actual work of being mayor, just the entitlement to wear the medallion. He's not going to show up for meetings unless there's something specific Dougie wants him to rant about. And he'll use the cancer card to get out of anything, even if it's just that, like when he was non-cancered, he can't manage to keep his mind on the task.

I won't lie. The thought of Rob being relegated to a fringe role is what I wanted. It seems like he will be getting a lot more attention.

Looks like Rob has showed up at his usual time:

Almost unnoticed during Mayor John Tory's press conference, Councillor Rob Ford came out and went up to council meeting

I'm Rob Forded and #topolied out. Just tell me if he is arrested and when he dies. Tory is not going to do anything bad or good.

Tory just appointed Nunziata as Speaker and put Mammoliti on Licences and Standards committee. He supports the insane billion-dollar Scarborough stubway, doesn't have any enthusiasm for LRT, and appointed no-one from the core nor anyone progressive to the executive, so we already have a deeply divided, polarized council. "Tory is not going to do anything bad"????? He already has; took less than 48 hours.

I wish I could like that post.

Putting Mammo on any committee for anything is entirely unjustified and indefensible.

The notion that Nunziata ought to be reappointed with the caveat that she'll "study" parliamentary procedure more is laughable. You don't rehire someone who hasn't shown a bit of competence in four years. FFS.

Yeah, Andrew Scheer will teach her how to hold the pose long enough that the photog can get his horizon level.

I also just learned that DMW and Crisanti are back on the TTC.

It's like 2010 all over again... when will we see a rehashed downtown casino project? And there must be a Mammo proposal in the works for that Toronto Island red-light district. New ideas? Anyone?

Some always called him a Red Tory. I think he'll be a decent mayor and may become less conservative after a couple of years since he isn't very charismatic.

Or maybe he won't. I'm tired of always having to guess his ever changing positions on everything.
