Rob Ford's Toronto

But that once-upon-a-time nation is a lot smaller today – about one in five voters (22 per cent) in Toronto continue to stick with him through thick and thin, down at least 25 points from those heady early days.

[...]

So, where has Mr. Ford lost his support?

Equally from men and women, those over the age of 35 (equally middle age and 55+), those with high-school or more education, including half of those University educated, and those earning $30,000 a year or more. The basic profile of those who have moved their support is: middle-age to older, more-educated taxpayers outside of the downtown core, particularly notable in fall off of support in York, East York, North York and Etobicoke.

Those most likely to have stuck with him: young, high-school or less education, more likely from Scarborough and earning less than $30k a year. Essentially, many non-property owning taxpayers who may be getting more entertainment value out of the Mayor than his dedication to the job.

Does anyone have a link to the google doc that showed RoFo's donations from 2010? I can't seem to find it - it was floating about twitter a week or so back.

Thanks!

Its not about the well rolled alleged joints (heheheh)! its about fraternizing with individuals who have access to the stuff, after saying you are cleaning up ur act and blah blah blah!

It's also about Rofo's supposed Lawnorder agenda. The lying sack of shit ran on an explicitly pro-cop, pro-law and order, anti-crime platform, didn't he? (Not like those commie pinko elitists downtown!) Pointing out the vast gulf between his public persona and his own private behavior is a perfectly legitimate line of enquiry because Ford himself has made it so. Harper is still attacking Trudeau for his recent comments on pot. Why should the PM's good buddy Rob Ford be held to a lower standard, hmm?

“He’s just making stuff up again,” Vaughan said. “Nothing this guy says is based in reality"

This is exactly what council should be doing right now: State plainly and repeatedly that every single word out of Ford's greasy mouth is a lie. This should be done at every available opportunity.

A Must-See: Monticello Mayor Pulls A ‘Rob Ford’ After DUI Arrest

Jesus! Who ever could have forseen that a banal, dim-witted yokel like Rofo would one day be held up as a Global standard of corrupt political behavior?

as much as i wanna know what's up with [Dougie Jr. offering "seed money" to a residents' association], i don't know if i wanna see it in the news. might be best to let as little of ford nation as possible know about that, you know?

This Rob Chodos guy tweeted today that Daniel Dale is looking into it, whether it might be a breach of conduct. Chodos also said that Dougie claimed at the meeting he is not interested in running for council again, and does not want to "overstep boundaries with his proposal."

For some reason, gosh, I don't think Dougie is simply doing this out of the goodness of his heart, to help residents of the city.

More from Chodos:

What is clear to me is his spin of "help the city that can't help itself", broadening Ford Nation party base and recruiting a 2014 candidate

As far as the global interest goes, people are certainly taken with the sheer level and diversity of Ford's stupidity, but what they seem to find even more amazing, is Toronto's apparent approval of such a being. There's nothing else to conclude that either this is just a big hoax, or Torontonians must be the stupidest constituents in the world.

Downtown bar C'est What has a beer called 'The Mayor's Special: Crack Addict.' It consists of 1/3 Nutcracker, and 2/3 Hop Addict, whatever those are.

The Superior Court has ordered remaining censored info in police doc. about Ford/Lisi released. Actual release on hold until at least Dec. 6

Justice Norheimer: "We are dealing with the actions of the duly elected mayor of the country's largest city and the extensive investigation undertaken by the police into those actions. In terms of legal proceedings, it is hard to conceive of a matter that would be of more importance to the public interest, at this particular point in time, than the one that is presented by this case in the context in which it has unfolded".

There have been dozens (if not hundreds) of U.S. politicians from mayor-level to presidential candidates with all kinds of scandals ranging from serious to salacious, zany and just plain weird. This is all short-term memory-itis. I'm not going to get upset because once in 10 years Americans can laugh at someone else for a change. ;)

So this means that we get to see the whole ITO uncensored. Anyone have a quick breakdown of what has been hinted/confirmed as being in the blacked-out portions? Is it wiretap transcriptions, or might there be more?
