Ossington’s most famous French steak house just opened a massive new restaurant in the Annex
Brasserie Côte brings the same steak classics from its sister restaurant to the Annex, but it also serves breakfast and lunch.

Brasserie Côte has opened at 400 Bloor St W, in the former By the Way Cafe space at Bloor and Brunswick.
It is the sister restaurant to the Ossington strip’s Côte de Boeuf.

Last year, the brothers behind Gonzo Izakaya, Hansang and Juwon Lee, along with their business partner Hyunchan Jo, opened Kensei Bar, a vibey listening bar at Dundas and Ossington that looks plucked from post-war Japan.
Specializing in inventive cocktails like the Cold Noodle—a savoury and surprising swirl of rum, beef broth, cucumber, umeshu, cardamom and lemon—and Japanese-inspired small plates, the spot has been buzzing ever since.
Keeping up with the momentum, the trio have partnered with makgeolli maker Dohyeon Kim to return to their Korean roots with their newest project: Gyopo, a Korean restaurant and brewery making on-site makgeolli—a milky, slightly sparkling fermented rice wine.

Tucked away in a strip mall—between a Subway and an RBC—is Revé, an 11-table “fire-to-table” experience that opened last September. It’s the first restaurant for Adriano Cappuzzello, who has previously worked in the kitchens of Langdon Hall and England’s Fat Duck.

Mohammed Alkurd, the owner of Makann, a new Palestinian breakfast counter in the Annex, took a roundabout journey to his current career as a sandwich artist. “I was born in Gaza. I moved to the US in 2018, where I received a master’s in special education,” he says. “Since graduating, I’ve been working as a curriculum developer.”

When AP, chef Antonio Park’s Nikkei kitchen, closed in April of 2025, Scale Hospitality didn’t let the room on the 51st floor of the Manulife Centre sit empty for long. Mar’aa, which means “sight” in Arabic, is the restaurant group’s follow-up in the sky-high space.

The reviews on this place seem very mixed, like it's a love it or hate it place.
Very bad service and small portion sizes seem to be common threads in the negatives.

It's unfortunate about the service, especially since Scale was given millions by the Ford government to train staff despite a low-rated application that was filed late. Knowing the owners are conservative supporters doesn't do wonders for my appetite.

Tucked inside another restaurant at the base of Church Street is Pasta Privato, the city’s new pasta speakeasy, which opens on March 27. In this 30-seat dining room, chef Michael Angeloni (Amano Trattoria, Notte Ristorante) will serve eight carb-heavy courses inspired by his culinary journey.

Tatoba Rane, Vedangi Rane and Abhishek Sharma first crossed paths at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. While Vedangi worked back of house, Tatoba and Abhishek were in the front, climbing the ranks to management positions.
“I worked in-room dining while Tatoba managed the rooftop bar,” says Abhishek. “He was ending his shifts as I was starting mine. We knew of each other and respected one another, but we never actually worked together.”

This place is very good and has a decent portion for the price you paid! The location in Vancouver is good!
Great addition for fast casual Japanese food in Toronto.
