One of the most unique and exciting projects during the recent condo boom has been completed. That project is 155 Cumberland/130 Bloor. Designed by Quadrangle, this most certainly must have been one difficult job - adding 6 floors to a functioning 50 year old office building all the while not touching an existing, and amazing looking, penthouse.
Photo Of The Day: King Edward Hotel's Crystal Ballroom

June 8, 2010
The King Edward's long closed Crystal Ballroom during the recent Doors Open 2010. Closed because it does meet fire code, this is a gem of a room that we hope gets reborn someday soon. The historic building recently changed hands and is now owned by King Edward Realty Inc., whose partners include Dundee Realty, Skyline International, Serruya Realty, and Alex Shnaider. The team is renovating floors 3-5 into luxury condominiums. Let's hope they then turn their attention to the top floor. You can read more about the King Edward Condo plans here.
Additional photos of the ballroom can be found here.

The new Four Seasons continues to rise at the northeast corner of Bay and Yorkville Avenue. Developed by Menkes and Lifetime Developments, this aA/Page + Steele designed hotel/condo consists of a 55 and a 25 storey tower. Here's a photo showing the fantastic looking cladding. This tower is really going to make a major impression on the midtown skyline.

The view from the new Maple Leaf Square Condos looking east towards the St Lawrence Market area. Rising 54 and 50 storeys, MLS was developed by Cadillac Fairview in tandem with Lanterra, and was designed by KPMB/P+S. Someone is going to have a great vantage point as Cityzen's L Tower starts to rise.

A neat look at midtown Toronto with the old Imperial Oil building front and centre. Empty since Imperial moved to Calgary, we hope it will find new life soon.

The Royal Conservatory Of Music/Telus Centre for Performance & Learning is the 2010 winner of the Pug Award for best commercial project. The KPMB designed building is stunning both inside and out. Well done KPMB.
Photo Of The Day: Working The Crane At Pemberton's Uptown Condo

Here we find the crane operator sitting on top of Pemberton's new Uptown Condo. Rising 48 storeys, this Burka Architects designed building is getting great reviews in the forum. People skeptical of the renderings are turning positive as they see the building in real life.
Photos of the actual Uptown Condo can be found here.
Photo Of The Day: X Condo By Great Gulf From Yonge and Wellesley

X Condo by Great Gulf Homes as seen from Yonge and Wellesley. The 44 storey architects Alliance designed building is an obvious homage to the Mies van der Rohe designed TD Centre. Looks lovely though a shame about the mechanical floor. A completely flat roof like the TD Centre would have been much preferred.
Photo Of The Day: Lanterra/Lifetime's WaterParkCity Condos As Seen From Ontario Place

June 23, 2010
The view of the downtown core is quickly disappearing from many locations including this one from Ontario Place. New condos are quickly creating a new skyline. This is the case with Lanterra Developments and Lifetime Development's WaterParkCity Condos. Designed by Page + Steele, the building under construction in the middle of the picture, is called Neptune. It stands 38 storeys tall. Quite the change for an area not that long ago was occupied by a Molson's beer factory.
Photo Of The Day: An Earthquake Hits Toronto

An earthquake hits Toronto and the buildings empty. This is the busiest we've ever seen Yonge Eglinton Square. The people who wanted to save the square from redevelopment should have prayed for an earthquake.
