Movies that feature Toronto

Not necessarily my kind of movie, but it is set in Toronto.

Hopefully the start of a trend, more movies set here.

Anyone see TMN's new UK adaptation of Sensitive Skin featuring Kim Cattrall and Don McKellar?

Not only is it excellent, but it really features Toronto in a way that also really just feels like Toronto. All six episodes are on-demand on TMN now.

Probably my favourite Canadian series since Death Comes to Town.

Probably my favourite Canadian series since Death Comes to Town.

I liked the first episode. It really did showcase Toronto well and the setting really set the mood for the show. I liked that you can always see & hear streetcars in the scenes.

In the show I believe the characters had just moved from Lawrence Park to Cube Lofts in Little Italy downtown.

The 2010 film Devil appears to star Toronto's Bay Adelaide Centre. Saw the trailer at the cinema last night where you can see Bay Adelaide Centre and Scotia plaza. Establishing shots seem to be from a US city.

Most of the Saw movies were filmed here. This scene has a great view of the Toronto skyline.

Set in Toronto...

Oh it's by the same people/actor as "Breakaway", another movie set in Toronto about an Indian-Canadian hockey team. Not the best movie, but it did have Russell Peters and other famous people from Toronto.

This concept is also very Canadian/Toronto in nature.

Sorry for the blurry screencap. This is the opening scene from Diary Of The Dead, shot in Regent Park.

So... I saw a 30 sec trailer on tv for a movie (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and in a shot that lasts only about a second (blink and you'll miss it), I had to do a double take because I thought I recognized a familiar street. I looked up the TV spot online and found this.

Yes, that is University Ave. I digged further and didn't see anywhere about this movie being filmed here. And then upon further inspection, oddly enough, the shot they use must date back sometime before 2011 because Shangri-la is still a hole in the ground. So I wonder if they just needed a shot of a random city and just paid someone to use old footage and cgi the crap out of it. hmm..

Shot appears around the 0:21 second mark.

I thought I glimpsed that too!! I didn't have control of the remote and couldn't be bothered to have it rewound, convincing myself that a shot of Toronto just didn't make sense in the movie being advertised.

From last week, I don't know what they were filming here but it was a stand in for NYC (Cabs and NYPD Cruisers were brought in) on Nelson Street at Simcoe. Not sure if it was for a movie or TV show.

SO I finally saw Enemy this week. It is actually a great film, with some of the best Toronto imagery I have ever seen. I am posting this vid of the final scene, and the closing credits which feature some great shots of the city. If you don't want the end of the movie ruined, skip to 1:30 in the video.

Warning, SPOILERS AHEAD

The chorus of the song is definitely American accent to the third-degree. Seems almost inappropriate for a Canadian movie.
