From the newly digitized Naylor fonds on the Toronto Archives site:
Some cool older buildings but otherwise a dump compared to today.
And just about all of the older buildings are still there, just cleaned up and renovated. The gas station and the lean-to behind the Sportsman's Shop are not missed.
While it was definitely a grimier and more gritty place, what I wouldn't give to hop in a time machine to go back 50-70 years and do some exploring.
