And before we depart, a flashback to the Summer of Love:

Boy, that was a golden age of hatchback automobiles.

BTW would that woman in the halter in the first couple of photos have been some kind of "celebrity" of sorts?

Yorkville

Those were the days!

totally fantastic! a small cornucopia of late 70's-mid 80's fashion and design signifiers--from the leggings and boots worn with a big bulky sweater, the high-top pleated chinos, the white pants and loafers, the big shoulders and tapered pantsuit (the famous inverted wedge), to the oversized slope shouldered prewashed denim jackets. egads!

All and all, further evidence that the 80’s truly was the decade that taste forgot!

this dolly seems to be rocking an earlier and more lascivious backless version of the 80's unmourned high cut leotard

As a recent television show has demonstrated, all fashion is revivable. All the items mentioned above, deepend, may be the "new look" in 2020.

I've still got my sturdy oversized slope shouldered prewashed denim jacket - which I bought around 1987 - and wear it on cool spring and fall days for gardening in.

Part of the "inverted wedge" look was popular in the mid-'70s - those painters' pants that everyone wore.

What year are these Yorkville shots from?

Charioteer may have dates, but my sense is that they are all from around 1980. "short shorts and clogs man" may be a bit earlier. either that or he is wearing a hopelessly outdated look for the time.

this one is almost certainly from a few years later, based on the presence of the Volvo and the Jetta, and the woman's jean jacket, which is of a style that didn't come into prominence until mid-80's.

The Jetta is an early MK2 (1985-1990).
