Mobilia Furniture

^^Just a little? A company like Mobilia does not change overnight, and a new member's testimony is not going to change my opinion.

Obviously some employee who doesn't speak english very well keeps signing up with a new name to pretend to speak for Mobilia. No one is fooled. It just makes Mobilia look even more pathetic.

Ok, 2 months ago I was a big fan of Never shop at mobila, because of their horrible customer service.but now I have to say: They have improved their service A LOT !
I had issues with their warranty agreement, and they refused to satisfy me, I told them that there is no wonder why people are giving them such bad reviews, and ended up talikng to manager. They took care of the situation and now all I have to say is that : they have improved a lot ! They have unique designs that you can not find elsewhere. so all together I m happy with Mobilia now !

Hope they read my review and know that if they make a customer happy, that customer becomes their advertiser !!

Ha, ha, that's exactly what I thought too.
Come on, someone with a user name of 'qualitylover' with just this one general post on this forum, and MOBLIA responds on the next post, sounds way too fishy.
That is very pathetic and simply low -- makes me distrust this bad company even more. Moblia really kicked themselves in the ass.

Ligitimate members of this forum are not like that fortunately. If so, someone could easily create a username like 'MobiliaEmployee' and post something like allowing bedbugs to be delivered in their furniture, surfing porn at the store while ignoring customers, fixing furniture with school glue and staples, etc....

Here is my situation,

I have currently ordered a dining table from Mobilia in Ottawa. Prior to receiving the table, there were a few issues with delivery dates, however, they were all resolved to my satisfaction. When the table did arrive the delivery persons were professional and took the appropriate precautions when putting assembling the furniture. However, after the furniture was assembled I immediately became aware that something did not look right. After some verification, including referencing photos I had taken of the table in both Ottawa, and Montreal stores, it was clear that the table delivered was not the same table as the one that was on display in the stores. I called the customer service number listed on the contract and was promptly put in contact with a rep. She indicated that there had been problems with the manufacturer of the table and that Mobilia has decided to go with a new manufacturer. However, this new manufacturer could not match the unique stain, or pattern, as achieved by the previous manufacturer. I clearly indicated that the vibrant colors of the "old" table was the reason for the purchase, and that the new table did not possess the same design elements. I suggested that I would like to explore all options with the Rep in order to receive what I had originally purchased, however, the rep indicated that the "new" version of the table was the only one available from the new manufacturer. I then suggested contacting the Ottawa and Montreal stores and canvassing whether they would sell me the floor model of the "old" table at a discount. The rep promptly contacted both stores, however, the stores indicated that there were indeed manufacturing defects with the tables (warped & cracked). I then suggested that I attuned at the Ottawa store to see the damage for myself before deciding on the next course of action.

I attended the Ottawa store and discovered that the Floor model was not as bad as anticipated. In fact, the manager indicated that it was not damaged, but only split due to natural humidity conditions and would repair itself in the summer. I indicated to the manager that my objective was to either obtain a new table which matched the "old" table design, or as a last case alternative would potentially buy the floor model. Subsequent discussions with the Manager revealed that the old manufacturer had gone bankrupt, and the new one had in fact, made a bad "batch" of tables. He indicated that the problem had been identified and would be resolved on future orders. This conflict directly with the information provided from the Customer service rep.

As it stands, this is where the story remains. I am currently waiting to find out who is correct, the store manager, or Montreal customer service HQ re: Can the new manufacturer actually make the tables as currently on display at the store?

I will post my follow up to this issue. In the event that things do not go as planned, I will of course request a full refund as the store has already confirmed that I have not received what I originally purchased. I should also note that I am a lawyer and have appeared in small claims court many times. Based on the customer service response I have received so far, I highly doubt that this issue will go that far (and no, I have not told Mobilia that I am a lawyer).

At this point, I am disappointed with the way things have gone with my order, however, I still have some hope that Mobilia will come through. If things work out, I will post a response. If not, I will also post a response.

I am quite sad to find this thread and the reviews on Mobilia.

I went to the richmond hill location today and found the City Loft sectional really well suited for me (modular, easily rearranged, comfortable, high backing):

Now I'm very dissuaded from buying from this place.

*** Has anyone ever seen anything like the City Loft collection anywhere else??

I did buy a sectional sofa from Mobila in 2006. I wouldn't buy a modular sofa again. Pieces on my sofa get unhooked very fast. If my son sitting on a section tries to stretch, that particular piece gets unhooked in no time. Mine was not City Loft, though.

The pieces I'm looking for are actually freestanding by design and not hooked together, so that wouldn't be an issue.

How was your experience with them?

I can't believe I'm considering buying the sofa from them still after all I've read in this thread.

I can't find anything like the City Loft sofa anywhere else though.

Am I crazy?

A belated reply to your question. Website was down for a day or so and I was also busy in work. It's that time of the year.

I theory, it looked exciting to be able to move furniture here and there, especially, when guest came in. We realised, late, that we do not entertain that much and that we needed to move furniture may be only 1 or times altogether. Rest of the time, we were able to manage without having to move furniture.

As said in an earlier post, I will not buy modular furniture again.

I hope that this is the answer you were looking for.

I could not find anything else that fit as well as the City Loft series that I saw at Mobilia, so I decided to take a risk.

I made my concerns known to the associate, and she brought in the store manager Caesar to reassure me. I said I had friends who had mixed experiences, and that I had read about a lot of negative reviews on forums.
He said he's seen a lot of improvement in the time he's been there, and that he would take care of me. The associate and Caesar were very nice about it, I would say it was great customer service.

So I went ahead and bought the sofa, it was delivered on time and without any problems.

All in all, a very positive experience.

I am in the process of having Mobilia rectify a situation with me. I have contacted both CBC Marketplace AND Ellen Roseman at The Toronto Star as I have very serious doubts that Mobilia will make things right. They delivered a sectional sofa to me that has hydraulic back rests and arms. The Chaise section of this sofa is in a softer, smoother leather and does not line up with the rest of the sofa. Where they sofa section meets the chaise, there is a 4-5 inch height difference (that the delivery guys hid by raising the back rest a bit to even it out) and the feet on the sofa section don't touch the floor as a result of the pieces clearly not being part of the same set. The run around has been ongoing for two weeks now. I refused to deal with the woman I waited for to contact me for two weeks and spoke to her boss. I am now waiting another week until a technician can come out. I have also said if this is how it's going to be I want a full refund. We will see...and hence the emails to CBC Marketplace and Ellen Roseman. After reading the stories here, I feel I've been as proactive as I can for the moment. Seriously wish I knew about this site before I put my money down. I completely agree, they stop caring as soon as you make your deposit. BE WARNED....regardless of the outcome, this will be my LAST purchase from Mobilia Furniture. It's a shame too, love the look of their stuff. Should you be tempted, save yourself a couple of thousand dollars and just go in, take a few pictures of the furniture you like. It's cheaper in the long run and you'll enjoy the pics far longer.

Wow, I was just searching the internet for some help with how to deal with Mobilia and this came up. I'm having the same kinds of issues as well. We bought a bed from the Mississauga store at Dixie/Dundas. I took the day off to wait for it to arrive and when they unpacked it all and hauled it into the house they discovered that it was missing some pieces and hauled everything back out. Ok so no problem mistakes happen. When I called to get another one, the sales rep said she'd look into it and call me back. So I waited a few days and still no call. Called them again and this time I got smart, I asked to speak to the manager who said he was sorry and said that he'd personally handle it and "call me back". Waited a few days and no call back...when I went to the store the manager wasn't there but we got the warehouse to do another delivery. So a couple months after we were supposed to get our bed, I take another day off to wait for another delivery truck which shows up, unpacks the bed, hauls it upstairs and discovers yet again that there are parts missing from this one and they proceeed to pack everything up again.

So I call the store and the manager isn't there of course and the warehouse manager is probably laughing at me and my messages that I leave her right before she deletes them. Now I have no bed, no money, no one to call that will do anything. That's where I am today. I was thinking of just hanging out at their retail store talking to customers about how Mobilia does things until someone helps me.

My advice is to avoid Mobilia like the plague and shop somewhere else.
