Mississauga Dixie Rd/QEW New Interchange (MTO, 1s, AECOM)

Still a while to go on this one, unfortunately. The contract isn't due to wrap up until 2026.

Looking at what needs to be done still, I admit that seems long.. I would figure a fall 2025 wrap up here.

Sept 3
Was planning on getting close up shots on the weekend, but did not happen.

The draining pond has been empty with work taking place on it. Crews were installing rebar for footings along the new off ramp that still needs to see curbs pour for it as well pave. Sill a lot of drainage to be installed for the new off ramp to the new Dixie Rd along with traffic lights.

Handrailing on the new overpass as well the retaining wall for the service road east of Dixie. Over all, not much left to be done for the new Dixie Rd other at the north end to have it open this fall. Crews were looking over the new service road west of Dixie that is ready to be open.

Nothing new for the south pedestrian ramp. Parts of the south ramp is poured and 100% form with no work on the bridge floor

Once the new road is open, the current access to the QEW will be close to allow the removal of the old bridge and building the rams to/from the QEW. Them there is the building of the eastbound lane and sidewalk for the westside of Dixie that cannot happen until the old road is remove as well the ramp to the QEW going west.

See no reason why this project will not be completed by the end of 2025.

Photos to follow.

The new bridge is open as of Thursday as well as the new alignment of south service road.
I wondering what they are doing for traffic lights as none were installed on Sept 3 when I saw it. Does that mean the eastbound North Service road is open to the new road or still close??

To go westbound on the new ramp will most likely see a cut off lane before the interchange until the new ramp is built for it as well the eastbound and having working traffic lights.

Late last week they were installing kilometers of the mobile concrete crash barriers adjacent to both the eastbound and westbound center median steel crash barrier. This seems to extend from the previous work done at the Humber river west to perhaps HWY 10? Not sure the project of carting in the barrier pieces is completed as yet. This can only mean nighttime work removing the older steel barrier and upgrades to drainage, lighting and cement crash barriers. This would be a project extending into the spring I would think.

Last night they were ripping up the old, steel middle barrier from the 427 to Cawthra.

Wonder how long the old bridge structure has. Can't be long until it's demolished.
According to the project site https://www.qewdixie.com/closures, Spring 2025 for demolition.
Shoot the area a few weeks ago and the old bridge is being used to move material and equipment from the staging area to the work area on the east side of the new one. The earliest I can see the bridge being remove is Q2 in 2025 back then

They have removed part of the southbound lane on the north side to finish work on the new ramp to/from the North Service Rd. Traffic southbound is single lane and turning right at Sherway Dr as they have closed that southbound lane so they could square corner the new intersection and build the curb for the new alignment.

Traffic light are in place, but not turn on for the new intersection and expect it be turn on now or early November. They were building a temporary on ramp for the westbound QEW traffic so they can close the current road to finish building the new off ramp which will be next year work. They are still working on the storm water pond as well.

The old South Service Rd is history as it has been removed from Ogden to where the new east ramp to Dixie starts with light poles installed where to new ramp to the eastbound QEW is going to be. Even the old ramp from Dixie to the Service Rd is gone

The Ogden walkway is a long way from completion as they have most of the north ramp built, but nothing for the bridge and the southside.

The centre QEW has barriers on both sides of the centre barrier that will be replace by a concrete barrier and long over due to replace this style of barriers.

@Tim MacDonald, your photos show most of what I saw on the day I shot it.

One thing that struck me was miWay has put in a southbound bus stop at the new South Service Rd with non for northbound. Buses are using the new bus bays on Dixie, not the plaza.

The photos are still in my backlog and should be up next week or sooner.

Concrete deck for the span of the Ogden pedestrian bridge was poured a few weeks ago, should be cured by now. They're still working on the southbound pedestrian ramps. The lower level and 4 turns of the ramp have been poured, now they're working on the upper level of the ramp to connect to the bridge.

On Urban Toronto, we call it Hurontario St.
A younger generation. 10 & 5 was Cooksville, and as a kid I went along with my grandfather to look at some cattle he was dickering on, a farm south of Brampton fronting on 10. Hurontario? Everyone wondered what the 'sam dickens' you were talking about? Rural Presbyterian upbringing. So old habits don't always just fade away,.
