I disagree. The 2005 version of HHGTTG was terrible and completely missed the point.

I quite enjoyed it ... though I was sitting on a jumbo jet somewhere above an ocean ..., so anything that would distract me from being hours from solid land probably was somewhat enjoyable.

I guess the viewing environment makes all the difference.
