Liberty Village pedestrian link

No kidding........Unless the ramp has a melting system, cost of clearing it is high and unreliable for the accessibility community. Another example of only one elevator for the accessibility community who continue to get lost in the able body mind thinking. I am able body, but seen far too many issues the accessibility community faces daily over my life.

You do notice the roof over the bridge. With a spiral, the floor becomes the room as the passage lowers.

Can't wait to see the elevator out of service for months at a time.

Sounds nice, but to make the spiral ramp (or any ramp) wheelchair accessible, you end with such a shallow pitch, and long ramp, that it takes forever for anyone able bodied. Heck, and forever with a wheelchair too up a long, long, shallow ramp. If there's place where the path is going anyways for a long ramp, then that's great. But not often an option in dense urban aras.

Wow this thing is ugly. And presumably will never open...

Architecture in Toronto suck badly with no real vision to move from the 1900's to the 2000's when ir should be more in line like the rest of the world.

The last I heard on the opening of the new walkway was to be soft opening by the end of the year.

Metrolinx is overkilling anything going over tracks or they own.

End of 2021? Yikes.

This project ended up being so much less than the sum of its parts. Raw concrete? Love it. Glazed brick? Beautiful. Splashes of colour embedded in glass? Bring it on. Put together in one project, though, it's a hot mess.

Ha this sounds like a project with too much design input from a committee of people.

LOL OPPS!!.....That was to be 2020, not 2021 for opening day

I frequent the immediate area of this thing and, it seems to me, that it's slated to be nothing but a sculpture.

It's been pretty well finished for months and, also for months, has had no one working on it from what I can tell.

Fits in around here though.....*glances at whatever the hell is (not) up at Exhibition Station*

In fact, I can't tell if those last photos in this thread are from November or today. Same sky, same condition of overpass.

I think lots of places have the same problem when anything new is built. I think the biggest problem is when you have architects who want to do their own thing and it doesn't fit anywhere else.
