As well, the tunnel has to be deeper due to the sloping grade for the corridor to deal with the Strachan grade separation

Tunnels are also a well know security risk and can be quite unsafe as they are not in 'public view'

Cameras can certainly provide evidence for subsequent investigations and prosecutions but, unless they are 'live monitored'' by nearby security, they are not much help if one is attacked/mugged.
