GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I was expecting the trip time of local trains will be a couple of minutes longer with one additional stop, but seems like no additional time.is added

Right, but the announced weekend service was the 23rd was it not? That's the weekend immediately following the 16th.
I'm puzzled why they'd leave Mount Dennis finished but closed for years, and finally open it only one week before a timetable change - rather than just doing it together.

It's almost as if they thought something else was starting that day - perhaps they got the year wrong on the memo. 🤣

Just to make it more clear, only Mount Dennis the station will be opening on November 16, nothing else. One week later on November 23, would be when all the additional weekend trains to Kitchener and Bramalea begin.

Now to ask why they didn't just make one change for the 23rd only is beyond me. But I guess Metrolinx decided to act like Mount Dennis needs a 7 day trial run before adding more service, as if people that could now head to the many popular destinations on or near Eglinton more faster and convenient wouldn't be an instant hit on Day 1.

Not sure if I am just dumb and didn't notice before, but on the Metrolinx map, Milton is no longer represented by a solid orange line. Instead it now has dashes through it that show "limited service".

And also, lines 5 Eglinton and 6 Finch West show as "opening soon"

Looks like they changed the UP Express line too. It’s still blue, which I still question why they did that in the first place.

More tangential evidence that GO Rail service will be increased to "15-minute service or better" is contained in Alstom's job advert for a General Manager Maintenance in Toronto includes this statement: "as we continue to move toward 15-minute service on all rail corridors."

Only a week and a half in and Confederation is already getting cut back service.

I expect this has to do with CN construction. CN has been doing refurbishment of pretty much all the grade crossings in Hamilton (including Stoney Creek). I hope the refurbishment includes track speed upgrades, but there is no indication that is happening. I'm still trying to determine if it is just a coincidence that they are doing all this crossing work around the time of the West Harbour tie in and Confederation, or whether it is just where they came up in the maintenance schedule.
