GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

An update to their plans on June 29th, basically moved everything 10 mins later.

The 11:13 p.m. last northbound train from Downsview Park GO will depart nine minutes later, at 11:22 p.m., and make all stops to Allandale Waterfront GO.

We have arranged three additional southbound Barrie line trains from Downsview Park GO to Union Station. These southbound trains on the Barrie line will depart at 11:45 p.m., 11:55 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. and will all have 12 coaches.

Latest ridership stats from Metrolinx and it shows near full recovery ridership for GO and UP express and record setting numbers for GO bus network. Does anyone believes some GO routes needs service improvements?:

With record setting GO bus ridership, MX should get serious about the 407 transitway and further building out & improving the Mississauga Transitway.

"Oh God I'm choking on irony!"

Years ago (pre pandemic) I worked with someone who commuted from Barrie to 400/401 everyday. He was in bed by 9pm and up at 4:30am every weekday morning. Like, how do you enjoy a work/life balance doing that?
That's normal even living in the city. Yonge St to Brampton is 45 min in the morning and 90 to 120 min getting home. Or 407 can save you 20min for $50.

The 407 Transitway should be built simply to take any revenue away from those dolts who own it now.

“97.4%” how similar to Steve Munro’s criticism of TTC’s similar claim where an average was used to paper over that some routes were still well below pre COVID service provision?

Technically CPP now owns about 44%, not a majority stake. PSP (which yes, is also public sector pensions) acquired 7.5%.
This isn’t Quebec, or Ireland. Public pension plans owning it doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want with it.

(To be clear this is a general point rather than specifically aimed at toaster29’s post)

I think the point is that 407 is paying "ourselves" in large part.

To go back the original poster - they referred to the dolts that own it. Whether one has the ability to do anything about things, it doesn't stop us being the dolts.

You realize a majority stake of it is owned by the Canada Pension Plan right?

All interesting and valid points. I'm siding with us being the dolts, because if we can't leverage majority pension plan-owned lands to improve transit, we can't build serious transit like a downtown subway relief line in Toronto that's layered with private property rights and utilities.

Hold up...
