And the Infrastructure Ontario news story saying the same thing here.

Metrolinx and IO are entering into the start of the negotiations stage with ONxpress Transportation Partners to confirm the technical and financial details proposed in their bid.

If the negotiations process with the proponents reaches a successful outcome in the coming weeks, the next step will be the confirmation of commercial close, at which time Metrolinx will enter into a development phase with the successful proponent.

Finally!!!!! Hopefully the final negotiations won't take too long. I guess we'll be seeing some form of coradia rolling down the lakeshore in the next 5 years
it could be possible to open in phases, but unlikely to be done in phases. going to be 2030 at least

No SNC-Lavalin involvement is a win in my books. Less chance for delays and scandal (at least one would hope).
Hey, they built the Canada Line ahead of schedule. Frankly, I have equal confidence in all of these companies to do the job properly. With all of the pandemic-related turnover and "great resignation", I bet half the staff at SNC 2 years ago work for WSP or Hatch now anyways..

Trains... and maybe even some catenary?

But actual fantasy guesses, small hydrogen train pilot for diesel-running sections (Alstom + German experience), 45 minute express service from Hamilton, Newmarket, and Oshawa into Toronto, bi-level EMUs, express through-running of lines allowing for burb-to-burb commutes like Oakville to Markham? etc

How’s about a much more basic program consisting of completing track and implementing 2WAD on existing lines, and preparing a 30 year life cycle plan for existing equipment (happily, Alstom already manages the maintenance and operating forces), completing layover yards, and getting wires strung on the defined routes covered by the tender?

Once again The Star highlighting their anti-Metrolinx priorities at full display.
They're absolutely right. Metrolinx could've at least tried to make the facility integrate with the park. Instead, they posted these long paragraphs that were basically non-responses, instead of showing how the feedback would be used in a new design.
