I don't know that it was confirmed anywhere, but the Grimsby GO announcement is still envisioned for the Casablanca site? No change of heart for setting up shop at the current VIA station?

Notice how both of these press releases don't explicitly mention the project name. Must be intentional.
Looking at the original announcement from 3 years ago:
Aecon holds a 50 per cent interest in a civil joint venture with FCC, which is undertaking the construction, and a 28 per cent interest in a 25-year operations and maintenance partnership with Deutsche Bahn International Operations.
is that 50% each or 25% each?

As I implied this afternoon on a different thread, the government might not want to be trumpeting that they dropped $13.5 billion on GTA Transit the day before the election. It puts a pretty big target on their back, both in terms of the astronomical number (for something that most people don't understand, and probably think we already have) and that when the Liberals left office, most of this should have been finished about now - and they still haven't got shovels in the ground for any of this ONExpress construction.Notice how both of these press releases don't explicitly mention the project name. It's probably too late now. Even if they technically could, the opposition would attack them for using government resources for "campaigning".So, we can expect a presser and photo op before election day?
I dont think alstom is involved in the civil works part of it.As I implied this afternoon on a different thread, the government might not want to be trumpeting that they dropped $13.5 billion on GTA Transit the day before the election. The public consortium members are required however to keep the shareholders apprised of major developments quickly. Nothing from Alstom yet though - perhaps their value isn't significant enough to announce; or there's a hiccup still. DB is government-owned so they don't need to disclose it.

If both General Canada and I quickly figured it out, I'm sure the media and opposition will too. I'm not sure why they wouldn't have simply owned it, rather than dumping it on a Take Out the Trash day.
Nothing precludes a written announcement though, with campaign appearances on public property.
That number has been floating around for years. Engineers Canada put it at $15.334 billion in 2020. I doubt it's gone down since then.I dont think alstom is involved in the civil works part of it.
Theyre definitely big in the locos signaling and operations though
Unlike the ontario line theres no separate contract for just building the tracks.
Where are you getting the 13 bil from?
I'd guess that negotiations have been lengthy, and with the writ dropping it put pressure on the consortium to sign off on something in case the new government had very different ideas. With increased urgency as the new polls have been coming out in the last week.Sad that they delayed finalizing the contract until the writ drop???
That number makes sense when you look at the DB service operations contract and the civil works contract separately. That number has been floating around for years. Engineers Canada put it at $15.334 billion in 2020. I doubt it's gone down since then.
Though that the consortium members which I would have thought would have had the biggest share, have only mentioned $5.6 billion for them, does concern me. Perhaps electrification will require a further contract?

Voluntarily residing in the burbs and complaining about the traffic brings to mind one definition of “chutzpah”This election will be won or lost in the GTA suburbs. People who are constantly stuck in traffic.
TBF my friends downtown ESPICALLY those in liberty village complain about congestion and traffic. Worst of both worlds imo!Voluntarily residing in the burbs and complaining about the traffic brings to mind one definition of “chutzpah”
