GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Woodbine racetrack station is well situated because:
- it is next to Hwy 27 (with grade separated ramps), connecting it to the Route 927 express service between Humber College and Kipling Stn
- It is close to the airport, providing a far more convenient transfer point to the airport than Weston for passengers from Kitchener, Guelph, Georgetown and Brampton, and potentially Via passengers from London, St Marys and Stratford
- It is directly off the end of Line 6, and the development is reserving space for an LRT extension to the station
- Etobicoke North station needs to be demolished to make room for the 4th track and Woodbine racetrack has both space and private funding for a 4-track station
- There is a very large development north of the station (including a casino) that will be served by a local bus service directly from the station (unlike Etobicoke North whose bus connection is a block away)
- It would be a better terminus for the Bolton GO bus than Malton, allowing the route to use the new Hwy 427 extension and stop at Humber College along the way

And what about the people served by the current station? We'll be left behind. Using Weston is not an option as the parking lot there already over capacity and not a single bus route from northern Etobicoke serves it without a transfer.

Using Etobicoke North station isn't a practical option for most people either. It's a park and ride lot in an industrial park with no direct bus service, and most trains don't stop there since it only has a single platform (hence the need to relocate to a spot that actually has room for 4 tracks and platforms). The number of people who will gain service at Hwy 27 is far more than the number of people who will lose service at Kipling. Building a station at Hwy 27 also doesn't prevent an additional station from being added somewhere between Hwy 27 and Weston, such as at Islington which seems to be a better location than Kipling anyway.

Are you guys able to just write down the location or brief description of the photos you're posting? I tried google mapping "Woods" and I still couldn't locate this project. I have no idea which project I'm looking at.
Looks like your post is the final post of 2024.
