Finch West Line 6 LRT

Well thats what you get when you have a streetcar operator run a traditional LRT with a traditional streetcar mindset. Lose lose
Nothing traditional about that streetcar mindset. We used to have interurbans running as proto-GO trains! This attitude is very safety conscious and modern.

TSP aside, they just operate it very slowly. I doubt we ever got near the speed limit of Finch despite there being long sections of unencumbered track.

I would give this a couple days' grace. While there has been plenty of testing and training, this is the first day when operators are running with whole loads of real passengers, at loaded weight.... and in awful weather with greasy track conditions. If I were an operator, I would be a bit cautious. Let's see how TTC adapts once the line is used to real loads.
(I am skeptical, but not ready to cry foul)

Non TSP and running at the same speeds as the downtown streetcars a modern thing?!

But trains are still stuck at red lights. That is not going to change.

I was reading elsewhere that the line does not have TSP active, and that this was intentionally done by the city.

The other chain comments seemed to allude to more testing needing to be done for a duration of 30-90 days, or that people would need to contact their councillors to push for TSP to be active, otherwise they're travelling at 19-20km/h.... I don't see how the speed limits are tied to TSP but it just seemed to be a very jumbled thought.

Opening event. Long lines to get in at 6:30AM on a Sunday.

Riding this line currently. Goddamn it is slow, half the time spent at red lights. Billions of dollars and no signal priority is sadly quite the joke.

I just spent a few weeks in Europe where every tram and bus would have signal priority at every light. It is incomparable.

For those with Instagram, this is the lived reality on this line:
