Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

They didn’t last long; by 1912 (or earlier) Simpson’s had swallowed them up.

Love those late Victorian/Edwardian storefronts! It reminds me of the now-demolished Oak Hall at 121 King Street East (now the Sculpture Garden):

"Ansley Castle, plus floor plans." QUOTE wwwebster.

What we don't see is the fireplace on the third floor, and the basement, entered by

the lefthand porch.

Worth noting: the University Avenue extension already appears to be completed and open. (Though it's interesting that it wasn't yet "connected" to York at the bottom--when did that happen?)

Is the original resolution of the pic? This picture reminds me when the Leafs were good.

(sorry, the pic of Toronto from above)

Taking note of the turntable within the Imperial Oil Co's head office,

I have remembered same belonging to Nelson Hyland - Avenue Rd w/s,

between Heath St & Lonsdale Road. Drive the Rolls Royce Phantom V in,

turn the "table", drive out.

The Wm Speers Funeral Chapel at 2926 Dundas W, west of Keele St was

also home to another unit.

As an aside, Murray Paterson & son, owner(s) of Wm Speers, buried

both? Nelson Hyland and his invalid sister.

J T
