Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

That's got to be Lakeshore Boulevard. The Gardiner started construction in the mid '50s.

That's certainly the Gardiner in the undated photo I posted earlier.
It must have been taken after 1962 because here's a 1962 view of the same area.

That pic is of "Start of 21 mile swim at CNE, 1927" Wrigley Marathon, formerly held Stateside at their

island off the California coast, it being and continues to be known as Santa Catalina Island.

J Allan Ross, a former Chitown resident and Founding President of the Canadian Wm Wrigley Co (1910)

and was instrumental in bringing The Swim to The CNE.

Interesting to see how much is actually still there: the Tip Top building, part of the Canada Malting complex (the silos) and the hexagonal Crosse & Blackwell building now owned by Rogers (but not the C&B chimney, alas).
