Durham Region Transit / Pulse

In my opinion, because she has taken her petty issue public, this woman deserves every bit of the mockery and derision that she will receive. The audacity of her selfishness and her completely irony-free indignation would be almost amusing if it weren't so nauseating. This all sits in the context that her wealth (and requisite McMansion) were obtained at least in part through her husband's role in designing and building these unsustainable neighbourhoods.

For once, the reader submitted comments beneath this Star article show (so far, anyway - the trolls haven't joined in yet) unanimous support for the public transit. Even most of those who personally choose cars over transit will still see that attempting to interfere with the right of others to use transit is a step too far. I hope that somehow this woman sees these responses and reconsiders how selfish her stance is in the context of greater society. However, I realize this is unlikely.

This woman is a relic from another age, a dinosaur with an outdated mindset, and her kind will be extinct in a few short decades. May she enjoy the rest of her days stewing silently behind her triple-glazed windows, staring glumly at her $100,000 lake view.

30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon is not frequent. If I lived on that street, I would be complaining that it should be more frequent and run all day, including weekends.

If quieter trolley buses replace those diesel buses, she'll still complain about the wires. People are created equal, but she is more equal than others, in her eyes.

They're most likely double glazed :D

Relic indeed. Very backward way of thinking in this day and age.

Now this is a classic "worst kind of NIMBY" case.

Excuses I have heard in 2008:

"Will allow homeless people to wander around."

"Will cause people to build illegal basement apartments."

Caledon for the win!

Nah, she's not an "average person" and has a "well-respected" architectural technologist husband, so she must also have above-average windows. Triple glazed, quadruple glazed... maybe she even ground up some quintuplets from an orphanage to help sound-proof her castle.

"Not to sound like I'm bragging or anything but we have more (influence) than the average person."

maybe she was a "rich bitch of the month" in the high society porn magazine back in the 80's?

I think I have an idea for the next Critical Mass ride...

She isn't rich, rich people don't say they are rich. That is one of the defining characteristics of being rich. The only people who say they are rich are nouveau-riche, who usually aren't very rich (combined earning of 150-300k). I mean, think about it, when was the last time you heard much complaining come out of the Bridle Path? Or Rosedale? Real rich people try to avoid attention being paid to the fact they are rich.

This is also a good reason why breeding should be illegal unless the partners meet a designated IQ.

No nasty comments from any lower cast person is going to phase her.... but she may try to have you banned from her street

LOL!! Not to sound like I'm bragging or anything but we have more (influence) than the average person. after all, we have our own parking spots, transit system & door opening buttons. pffff, it costs me over ten bucks to take a piss. she probably pisses for free, like a common person. how savage. ;)

just make sure it's one of thems naked ones. also, make sure there's alot of gay people giving each other hand jobs while simultaneously riding their bikes. that should sit well with a person like that.

I'm guessing her husband didn't know she would be doing this interview, or he might have advised her not to say this.
