Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

In any case, if i recall correctly last january during the liberal leadership debates the question was asked whether they will continue projects like the SSE and OL.

They answered they will keep the current projects going.
lol I thought we're being told constantly on this forum that any project can be cancelled up until the last minute? Personally I set very little stock in anything Del Duca has to say based on his track record under Wynne.
Sleazy Del Duca was Transport Minister when the Liberal Government lied about building the SELRT, so I'm not going to believe anything these people have to say about transport. A Del Duca government would just be a continuation of the Ford Government's deception on the transit file.

I'm pretty sure everyone realizes this, but at the same time, at least things are getting DONE. Under the liberals, almost nothing was getting done until the last term, and Doug Ford hasn't used this authoritative policies to do much wrong. Good transit is being built, all of the projects are improvements over their previous proposals. He is the most pro transit candidate we have unless Horwath pulls out like a grand plan of transit projects which hopefully she does.

If you were to rank all the screwed up things the Government of Ontario has done in recent history, invoking the Notwithstading Clause to interfere with an active election has to be in the top three. Not even because of policy, but out of principle. Democratic elections should be interfered with, regardless of what policy you are attempting to implement. Ford's willingness to use any and all tools available to him to impose his will is an active danger to good governance in Ontario.

I didn't know the Eglinton Crosstown, Finch West, Hurontario, ION and O-Train LRTs as well as the Viva Rapidways were projects being done by the cons. Ford is just taking credit for what has already been started under the Liberal government to much opposition from the PCs when they weren't in the front seat. The only credit they'd deserve would be the SSE (no thanks to the heavy politicking of the early 2010s), Eglinton West and the Ontario Line with the magical technology that's supposed to offer subway-like capacity using shorter trains as if we're in Doctor Who.

Aren't the Exhibition and East harbour stations there to allow easy transfer from the GO lakeshore trains and partially relieve union and line 1?
never mentioned east harbour, which was always planned as a transfer from the drl to GO/ttc streetcars

are you telling me you think exhibition is the right place for a subway going downtown?
I know that the original DRL never went past osgoode, but if youre going to extend it past it, at least make it useful.

like cmon other than being a transfer for GO trains who else does it serve,

there lots of past discussions about this over on the OL thread but its pretty blatant to see why Ford dictated a station there.

Progressives are not the only people that care about the integrity of our elections and constitutional principles. You'll find plenty of PC supporters that were stunned at Ford's invocation of the Notwithstanding Clause. Of course they'll be more quiet about it, because it is "their team", but if it were a Liberal or NDP government that nullified constitutional rights, they'd be screaming bloody murder, and rightfully so. What Ford did should never be allowed in an ostensibly democratic society that values the rights of its citizens.

Ford's biggest accomplishment to date is cancelling the Relief Line. That'll remain the case until the Ontario Line begins constriction (if it ever begins construction)

While it would have been better for it to continue along Queen and Dundas, Exhibition still is not a bad terminus. It will relieve Union, give people along the route another way to catch the Lakeshore RER &, and connect to the waterfront streetcar which is being extended to Dufferin. Exhibition Station will serve both Liberty village and the many event spaces on the exhibition grounds.

Exhibition is a major site in the city featuring many annual events, competitions, whatnot. It is also a major transfer hub connecting to many streetcar routes and the GO Train, the latter being very important as it would allow an alternate route into downtown so that users can avoid the already congested Union Station. If need be, the line could easily be extended north along dufferin or even swing west along Lakeshore to become a Jane Line. The station is situated on the north end which will allow for easy access to the growing Liberty Village community, and a potential future people mover is suggested that would connect Exhibition to Ontario Place and Liberty City Core. There are many options for future extensions so its not like it will forever be stuck at Exhibition, and again, Exhibition is still a pretty good terminus.

For being in power for over a decade, their accomplishments are incredibly small. Just a couple of tram routes, a horribly designed Crosstown Line, and with the exception of the Viva Rapidways, all of them were built after their tenure? Not to mention, with the exception of iON and Viva Rapidways, these were so horribly designed and don't work in the corridors they're trying to build up (but I've talked extensively about that and I don't want to repeat myself). Compared to the absolute snail's pace that projects went through development under the liberals, seeing the PCs rapidfire through these projects is incredible. We're only 3 years into their term, and shovels are already hitting the ground for SSE and EW which got revised allignments and stations, and we're getting proper rapid transit instead of just trams.

That would be okay, but I don't know about better. They're about the same tbh.
