Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

And fare integration so that it makes sense to take the TTC to the GO from a financial standpoint.

Absolutely. Get enough ridership and it would even be revenue positive as surface lines have significantly less maintenance overhead than their tunnelled counterparts.

So let's price out one of those garages for you...

Those premade garages for say 100 feet long are about $8,000.

What type of 100' long permanent structure is $8000? Perhaps a photo would help me. My S-in-L just got a quote for a double car garage for about $40K. Silly him, apparently.
Why would Hydro One offer up it's property for free?
Maybe I'm cartographically challenged, but what ROW are those little subways/LRTs/whatever running in?

If nothing else, this is entertaining.

What the hell has happened to this thread?

I thought it was bad enough that it has been coffey-vs-everyone but this latest stuff is just getting weird.

Heck no. Closer to $5B to solve problems closer to Union.

Just, if someone gave Scarborough $5B for any transit project at all (rather than being tied to a TTC subway extension); I'd be eyeballing very frequent all-stop service on the Stouffville line + some expansion/reconfiguration of feeder service.

I expect Mississauga will eventually end up with that configuration. Frequent service on Milton line and some kind of people mover around Square One with a connection to both Hurontario LRT (now through only) and Cooksville GO via Confederation Parkway or Palgrave Road.
Ahhh...but you missed the essential part! Ford will pay for it if it's all subway!

Meantime:
A spokesperson for Ontario Transportation Minister John Yakabuski didn’t respond directly when asked whether the province would build the subway without a city contribution.

The suspense is killin' me...

Should the Province even feel the need to respond to insignificant Mayoral candidates?

Althougb refreshing to see the City's NDP has chosen to stop trotting out the ridiculous old LRT plan. "Progress"

Good Heavens! What happened to "The Folks" and "The People"? Keesmaat's making her point already, thank you for helping her.

Or does Fearless Words Leader not respond to reasonable questions? Is he good for his words? Or not?

C'mon, you can play too. Here's some help, but at some point, you're going to have to figure out how this works for yourself:
"Jennifer: If Ford is good for his word, and does completely finance the SSE as promised from provincial coffers (and the Feds being invoiced for their share, if the agreement holds), and since you've predicated your plan on this pivot of logic, will Torontonians still be paying the tax levy dedicated to the SSE?"

See how that works? You'd be challenging Ms Keesmaat to extend her logic in a 'give and take'.

Dear John won't have to play, since he's going to be the neutered male in the howl fest. It's going to be Jen v Dog. John can always interject with a plaintive "she's a secessionist" snivel whenever his testosterone injections kick in.

How it works? John and Doug will sit down and work out a transit agreement to move forward with in the future, if they haven't been already. The majority Province has all the leverage and will fund the subway if they agree to it and it makes sense for them to have full control. Some fringe candidate throwing a last ditch transit tantrum for a certain political stripe hat has already done more than enough damage relentlessly protecting a poorly design LRT plan really doesn't matter to the Province or do anyone in this City any good.

But just for you Ill even pretend for a minute she wasn't irrelevant politically and became Mayor. Disaster. The SSE would be fully Province and the City would get screwed harder then you believe it is going to be currently. What a bad idea it would be directly playing games going after a Majority government from the municipal level. But then again the same person thought it was good idea to take stops out of one of the most critical transit lines in the City and run for Mayor.

Back to reality. Thankfully we'll have a Mayor who can work with any party leader and no further sabotage will occur in moving the City forward. There really is no Jen vs. Doug. There actually is no Jen vs. John.

lol...so will Dog pay for the SSE or not? It's a simple question. Should be a simple answer.

And you'll get your simple answer when the Province and the Citys Mayor come to an agreement. There are many not so simple details in the plan to iron out, but when they are youll find out
Its that simple.

Brilliant work! This is going much easier than I ever would have hoped.

Meantime:
Speaking in the Port Lands, Tory pointed out that SmartTrack rail lines are already under construction.

“The construction on this huge project, one of the biggest of its kind in North America, is actually happening. While the whole project won’t be finished until 2023, the significance is that we got it started.”

Later on Thursday, Tory’s campaign team said Keesmaat’s plan is basically the same as Tory’s.

“Keesmaat unveiled her “bold” new transit plan for Toronto, which amounts to shifting two stops in Scarborough. The remainder of the plan is exactly the same as the transit network expansion plan championed by Mayor John Tory and approved by City Council.”
https://www.cp24.com/news/keesmaat-slams-tory-s-smarttrack-unveils-50b-transit-plan-1.4074624

And Tory's been played like a pawn too. All Keesmaat has to do is allow the talking hats...errr....heads to put noodles...ummm...nooses around their mouths...so to speak. Just like 'Soap on a Rope' washing their mouths out.

See how that works? I blame Secessionism m'self...Marie Henein will be impressed.

Crazy you actually believe Tory is being played like a pawn? Quite contrary. Poor decisions from the Citys Left talking heads of the past have completely ruined it for Jen and made life beyond easy for John and Doug. John is just going thru the motions and never had it so easy in a race.

Glad you made it thru a post with a mention of your friend "Dog"

I had Big Black Lab along the lake in Pickering and Rouge Hill this afternoon, thank you for inquiring.

The beauty of this is how Keesmaat posts a ridiculous map, everyone swallows the bait ("secession", Act ll) and then her opponents fall all over themselves claiming it to be theirs, and refusing to answer simple questions on whether they intend to keep their many times uttered mantras.

You don't get it. And that's good.

Toronto hasn't paid a majority share of TTC capital expenses since the 70's; other levels of government will be paying the bulk of nearly any plan that gets put forward.

However, just because the province has a larger revenue stream isn't an excuse to spend freely without attempting to maximize benefits; and by benefits I mean a happy/healthy society NOT whether some group of politicians can buy re-election through it.

Her cheeky transit map contained very little new detail along with a couple political stabs has really no affect on anything of importance. Nor does it impact Tory or Ford in anyway. But maybe it tickled her base into believing it has some relevant impact. Even then many of her most polarizing fans seem upset shed even accept the SSE in any form.

Stop into the Black Dog pub?
