Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I think the cost report should be released once it is ready. No good reason to wait for the Council meeting.

That said, I will support SSE even if the cost exceeds the previous funding envelope.

Just looking at the maps ... what if the line is routed first under Eglinton, then under Brimley (placing the curve under the Scotiabank parking lot), up to Lawrence.

Then curving east, and surfacing in the Gatineau Corridor. The wires may be shifted 30 m to the north, making room for the "Lawrence East" subway station.

Highland Creek would be crossed on a bridge. Then going under again, curving north and continuing under McCowan, following the current preferred route.

Benefits: Lawrence East station restored, and should be affordable due to being on surface. In addition, the tunnels may be somewhat cheaper as most of them will be shallow.

I thought of something similar, but up Midland.

I’m pretty sure government documents are in the public domain.

Municipal documents might be. I've never had any issues with rehosting planning reports by the thousands for municipalities across Canada.

Provincial and Federal documents are almost always copyright with the Queen's Publisher or Queen's Printer or similar who typically will go after you if you republish them for commercial purposes (sell the copy or put ads on/around it).

Ontario's "Open Government License" explicitly allows copying and republishing provided the source is provided (Government of Ontario), including for commercial purposes.

^ Yes, discussed this in the Tory string. She has the power to sink Tory if there's a moderate candidate running against him, and the ScarSub situation is the torpedo to do it. There's a hundred other issues, but nothing this damning. Even the vast unwashed will 'get' that Tory and Council's hiding the report is evasive, malicious and completely self-serving.

The report in and of itself is not what concerns people. We want to see the updated costs, which will be available in September.

Aren't the costs in the report. Until the report is final, the cost are in draft form as well.

Cmon it's election season. There's no time to wait or more importantly pass up what may be the last opportunity to rile up Dowtown Left support and campaign a few outside ridings on the back of the Scarborough subway. This line gets played just as effectively on both side's of the Don.

Realisticaly it's all about the Province and they also would never pass up the last opportunity to show support here and furthermore the City cant continue in this state of division. Upending the subway wouldnt've helped anyone in the aftermath that would follow. Locally the cost fluctuation no longer matters unless the Province was to back out from the firm support they have shown all along and should be reminded shortly.

There is no such thing. People want responsible use of tax dollars, no matter where on the political spectrum you lie. It’s a bizarre world we live in when that means you are part of a demographic that is being “riled up”.

support and campaign a few outside ridings on the back of the Scarborough subway.

If a one-stop subway line from Kipling to Rexdale for $5 billion was being proposed, those of us interested in responsible public spending would be just as outraged.
Or a one-stop subway line from Vaughan Metropolitan Center to Wonderland for $5 billion.
Or a one-stop subway line from Finch to Agincourt for $5 billion.

See a trend? We don’t care where it goes; if it a totally mismatch between cost and benefits, we will be ANGRY.

Locally the cost fluctuation no longer matters unless the Province was to back out from the firm support they have shown all along and should be reminded shortly.

OH WONDERFUL, it doesn’t matter if the cost fluctuates to $10 billion. Or $20B. Or whatever. Who cares how much it costs? Wonderful. The province will hear from us if this doesn’t get built. Let’s spend $50B on it.

Actually, let’s keep the real cost hidden because we don’t care, we are just taxpayers. Just build it because we have been disprespected for years.

Is this how we should be running our transit planning, politics, or any damn thing in this world?
