Bloor-Yorkville Scene

Scaffolding is now up around the (now former) ScotiaBank at Bloor and Balmuto.

As it’s my local branch (after the Bloor & Church location was closed), I know there’s been a lot of work done to it over the past few weeks. The ATM vestibule has moved, the tellers are on the west side and then whole eastern half is blocked off. It all looks temporary though, so who knows if anything other than renos will happen. I hope they get rid of that ugly entrance though.

Not sure if the rumour a way back was ever confirmed, but Alo will indeed be opening "Alo Bar" in the space formerly occupied by Creme. The buildout has been going on for a while, now, and Commute Design (which also did the other two Alo spaces) has done the design. 50 indoor seats and 25 on the patio out front.

Peloton has leased 130 Bloor West's vacant spot.
Also CBRE is repositioning 111-113 Yorkville for a high end retail transformation with an extension. The block of Yorkville between Belair and Hazelton is going to be quite something in a few years.

This is very nice. It maintains the Victorians that make Yorkville tick - but modernizes them for 21st century high end retail.

I'd love to see more of this. And ya, Yorkville Ave. is turning into quite the high street. It gives all these high end brands street presence on both Bloor and Yorkville now.

I find it interesting they're using 50 Bloor West in their promotional material (though not surprising, having spent well over a decade dealing with commercial real estate agents).

Has there been any movement on this in the past two years? My bet is the lease for Artizia at the Holt Renfrew Centre is a decent for the amount of leasehold improvement they seem to be doing. And Holts themselves seem to have been doing a lot of internal renovation, but nothing that looks structural. So we're likely not to see any construction going on for at least a couple of years.
