Apple Store

Oops totally forgot about the existence of this thread.

Apple is the tentative anchor tenant of 1 Bloor (taking up most of the space at the corner). Nothing has been signed as of yet, but it's almost 100% a go. They're very adamant about getting the space on Bloor, 1 Bloor's architect boasts at the BIA meetings how Apple will anchor this corner beautifully. This will be their Canadian flagship.

Coming to Toronto in May for 2 weeks. Hope everything is open, sounds exciting.:D

James - Apple won't have any new stores in Toronto by May. If the 1 Bloor East location does come to pass, maybe May 2011. Anyway, there are 3 existing Apple stores here for you to pick from - Eaton Centre, Sherway Gardens, or the original Canadian (and smallest one by a wee bit) at Yorkdale.

Thanks m8. Will visit the other ones then and put Yonge and Bloor on hold for 3 years.:D:D:D

So it's official - Apple is moving into Fairview Mall in the Fall: job applications have been posted on their website.

(Meanwhile the country's 6th location has opened at West Edmonton Mall, rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal will soon have the 7th, and Calgary's Market Mall will have the 8th.)

Still, why are they opening so slowly from sea to shining sea?

...and save Montreal, why only in shopping malls?

Someday over the rainbow we'll get our 1BE store at the most important intersection in the universe or something like that...

In the meantime, where's the Ottawa store? The Mississauga one? The Halifax, Winnipeg, Waterloo, Victoria, Quebec City, Burlington, London, Newmarket, Brossard, Richmond, and Port Elgin ones? And why no drive-thrus yet?

In the US most of their downtown stores are not in malls but the suburban ones are. Is the Eaton Centre an anomaly in that most US cities don't have major malls downtown? Let's hope we get a stunning looking one at 1 Bloor East.

I walked by the rue Ste-Catherine store two weekends ago, and was able to get a peak at the construction mess behind the hoarding (will they get it open in time for the Rogers-botched iPhone 3G launch on Friday? it didn't look like it) and was suprised at how small this store seems compared to the downtown stores I have seen in places Chicago for example. It's not tiny, it just doesn't seem "flagship" sized. Should the 1BE location come to pass, it will not be hard to out-flagship this first Canadian flagship.
