GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I've always understood 15-min service on the Barrie line was planned through Aurora. However, more than a few times now, I see the northern terminus described as Bradford. The most recent example is from this week's MX blog post about Rutherford. For comparison, this PIC Storyboard from 2016...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Was walking on the trail that is literally beside the tracks thru Newmarket today (adjacent to Fairy Lake). It was about 6:30 and Engine 613 (I think) was hauling a 4-car consist southbound. Are they expanding 4-car service to more lines?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yes, I saw the statement "Some replacement buses do not stop at East Gwillimbury or Newmarket GO" and so I checked the new schedule. I can't find a time during the day that either station is skipped by a bus trip going in either direction. Anyone catch the details on this?

I live outside the pilot area, so I don’t qualify for that service. My wife says we can't move. ? I think they use cars for on-demand. I used the Aurora-local on-demand to get to my car at the station a few months back. I believe it was a Toyota Camry in YRT livery.

YRT is my home system. They definitely have their faults, but props where due: For several months now, they have been running a pilot to Aurora GO. With the co-fare, it’s basically a $1 (possibly shared) ride to a station where all spots are full by 7am. @smallspy posted a link to YRT’s plans...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Having missed my Barrie-line train by a hair this morning, I zipped down to Gormley to catch the 61F express to Union. I was surprised that it was operated by double-decker 8477. Are the 6x-series routes (Richmond Hil, Barrie) getting them with any regularity these days? Have never seen one in...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Passed thru Union on the way to the Jays game. 1 pre-game pic on Platforms 6/7, rest are after looking south from west-end of Platform 4 Tactile edging done. Definite improvement in lighting/brightness. New screens installed, not yet activated.

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Here's a view from Platforms 12/13 this morning. When I stepped into the platform, it took me a moment to figure out why things seemed brighter.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Per Ontario.ca, there are 3 advisories/events: MPP Surma at West Harbour for 10am, then the entourage travels to Brampton joined by the Minister. Then across the GTA, to Ajax in the pm. Are they really reannouncing the Aug 31st Service Changes? Is so, they missed Stouffville. I’m sure those...

Saw these installed at the crossing of the Stouffville line, at Main St, Unionville...a few minutes north of Unionville GO. Anyone know what they're for? I'm thinking to prevent wildlife incursion. That, or those pesky selfie-takers... and wedding photography.

The SB special was delayed until 2am so no conflict on the tracks.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I wonder if they pegged the SB special at 1am, forgetting the new schedule has the last train 30 minutes later (1:20am formerly 12:50am). Even if they terminate the NB service at Bradford (with a later deadhead to Allandale yard), they need a place to put the NB train so that the SB train can...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

From https://www.gotransit.com/en/travelling-with-us/promotions-and-events/rollingstones GO will be running one special southbound train, departing from Allandale Waterfront GO Station at 1:00 am The last northbound train arrives at Barrie South at 1:10am and Allandale 10 minutes later...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Are the late-night "improvements" on LSW the first we're seeing of the promised conversion of deadheads to revenue service? I know there were some super-express services introduced when mid-day service was increased on LSE and LSW. The Barrie line changes appear to introduce additional...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'm still waiting for the Barrie PDF to be updated from January's changes. I tweeted @GOTransit for correction to both the Barrie and RH schedules. RH is updated, but Barrie still shows a weekday 65C (introduced as "weekend only") 1 minute after a southbound train departs. (The schedule shows...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'm sure I've made my share of "typos" in my life, but there seem to be so many errors that I get the feeling the revised schedules were rushed out the door...to the point that I wonder if there was pressure so that they could stage some photo-ops well before Christmas. 1. The day the Schedule...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The ML RER website (linked by Neutrino) states: Weekday rush hour 15-minute service from Richmond Hill* to Union Station in the morning 15-minute service from Union Station to Richmond Hill* in the afternoon/evening I'm curious why the RH is designated as the limit. Is there something north...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yes, this is super exciting news. Can't wait to see specifics of what's coming. My wish list: * Increased service on the Barrie line incl. north of Aurora. Bradford has 1.5 platforms, great for a point of turn-around. * Weekend and increased service on the Stouffville line. * Increased...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

In my case, the Kitchener Line is less desirable; Malton is further from my ultimate destination. If Triplinx is to be believed, travel times are comparable. The Train-Subway-Bus option saves 5 minutes. Cost is more of a factor: $13.38/84min vs. $17.51/89min if you take UPX. And, from the...
