    Toronto YC Condos -- Yonge at College | 198.42m | 62s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

The quality of the renderings for this thing are very similar to those for DNA3. Same developer, same *ahem* architect. Go check those renderings out, then compare them to what actually got built for that project. I expect that we will see exactly the same thing here, but on a much larger...

What is the source of that rendering? It doesn't look quite legit to me.

    Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

My first impression was "it's insane!" But, the more I look at it, the more I think this could be a refreshing change of pace from the usual tower/podium template. I wouldn't want to see this kind of thing everywhere but, for Bloor & Bathurst, this could really be a winner!

This is one of those cases where the structure they tore down was so bad, that blank empty space is actually preferable to what was there before. Since this is going to be another Canderel/G+C project, however, I only hope that it won't also be preferable to what will be there in the future.

    The Junction

A lot of storefronts in the Junction are not legitimate businesses. It seems to be improving, though.

Lingering and socializing is one thing. Shoeless, snoring, and drooling out the side of your mouth is something else. I've seen plenty of that when I was at U of T in various libraries & common areas. I think they pitched it right here. The contemporary bias is to treat any public space as if...

    Toronto The Berczy | 41.76m | 13s | Concert | Arcadis

The dark tinted windows at the retail level of this project are definitely one of those "what were they thinking?" moments.

A number of people have made this observation. But it seems much less "chilling" and much more practical, if you put yourself in the shoes of someone who has 300 million dollars invested in the project. If you had that much money invested, and you knew that there was a very significant chance...

Oddfellows Hall 450 Yonge @ Carlton (?, 5s addition, ERA)

Just because they're putting in a new elevator doesn't mean they're getting rid of the old one. They are in two different locations. Structurally, I don't think you could take out the old elevator even if you wanted to. Here's the old elevator: http://youtu.be/1vmiGASEVXc

    Uniqlo

I just welcome another store that has clothes that might actually fit me, as opposed to the majority that cater to Big Huge People.

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

True! Although, to be fair, Times Square also had a far more "Times Square" vibe back then as well.

Hey, you gotta admit - that could be pretty entertaining!

You nailed it. That line of thinking supports the majority of current hand wringing in this town over the loss of perceived heritage, where "heritage" is really just a trumped up euphemism for "old." It's just over compensation for past transgressions. Soon we'll be at the point where you can't...

    Toronto Yonge Eglinton Centre | ?m | 37s | RioCan | P + S / IBI

I agree it looks bad. But it also looks like, by design, they only left that little strip above the windows for signage. If that's the case, then it's a really restrictive situation for the proprietor.

    Toronto Islington Terrace | 145.08m | 45s | Tridel | Kirkor Architects

Of course this is mundane, boring architecture. But, considering the use, scale, and location, what more can you really expect. I agree that the quality of architecture in Toronto could be much better. Even so, the fact is, the majority of buildings are going to be unremarkable but functional...

Global Village Backpackers Redevelopment (460 King W, Allied REIT, 3s, Gensler)

Global Village Backpackers was an excellent source of young white people with dreadlocks. But, that may not be the sort of character you really want.
