What is the source of that rendering? It doesn't look quite legit to me.

My first impression was "it's insane!" But, the more I look at it, the more I think this could be a refreshing change of pace from the usual tower/podium template. I wouldn't want to see this kind of thing everywhere but, for Bloor & Bathurst, this could really be a winner!

This is one of those cases where the structure they tore down was so bad, that blank empty space is actually preferable to what was there before. Since this is going to be another Canderel/G+C project, however, I only hope that it won't also be preferable to what will be there in the future.

I agree it looks bad. But it also looks like, by design, they only left that little strip above the windows for signage. If that's the case, then it's a really restrictive situation for the proprietor.
