My issue with flat glass is how much sterilizes the rhythm and character of the street. Obviously this building will enhance the skyline, but when you're walking by and not looking up, flat glass facades are so lifeless, especially when they're covered in plastic window wrappings. Bringing some...

I'm really hoping for a little more texture at the ground plane than we're seeing here. If we end up with a typical flat glass facade I might lose it.

Definitely a range of quality in materials right now, will make for an interesting case study of materials combinations when it's all said and done. I imagine that there will be some beautiful angles, and some others not so much. Still lots more to come so let's hope it improves from here...

Is it just me, or is there an extra corner pillar on the southwest where the upper section was supposed to cantilever? Pretty disappointing if true. That corner would look so much cleaner without the pole in the way.

Oh good, at least it blocks the view of the awful Daniels buildings from this part of Sugar Beach.

    This is absolutely atrocious!

I think we've got a winner on the horizon with this one!

A worthy view terminus! It's looking so good already. I love having beautiful civic buildings at prominent locations, it really adds to the image of the city.

I love this, I wish more condos and main street developments has this much care for the ground floor. It might look a little Disney-esque right now, but once it's lived in it will take on a nice patina. Great job here, let's do more of it!

I somewhat disagree, there are some elements of DSG that turned out decent, particularly the lower levels. By comparison, the street level of Grid is absolutely appalling. Tim Hortons could not look worse in that corner unit. The barf green/grey/brown the developer opted for, combined with a...

The aluminum around the inside of the window frames on the podium is a nice touch. It really pops in person.

The uneven precast balcony thickness, what is even going on here?! 😱

I wish the City's planners paid more attention to the grain at street level. I walked by the other night, and the PWC complex has so much more visual interest going for it at the lower levels. The flat vision glass of this project just feels so sterile and unconcerned with the urban realm. The...

    Toronto Stanley Condominiums | 138.37m | 41s | Tribute | Core Architects

It's pretty rough at street level. The columns feel heavy and the colour palette at the lower levels is dark and drab. The overhang just makes the whole space look shady. Honestly I'm pretty disappointed this is at such a prominent corner. Maybe the commercial tenants will spruce it up a bit...

Seriously, what's with this city's obsession with this dark grey stone/brick? I'm so tired of it. Let's get back to reds and browns PLEASE!

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

There's a lot of garbage being built, but every now and then there's an absolute grand slam. This is one of those hits, and the feeling of seeing it materialise is sublime.

It's a real breath of fresh air when a prominent building is nicely cladding. It heals the soul.

The shadowing study only needs to show that there won't be excess shadows on the places protected by the Official Plan, being parks, public squares, heritage conservation districts (in some cases) and others I'm forgetting. Private residences and other towers have no right to sunlight, as those...
