GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

You might not get a chance to measure acceleration to highest speeds much longer reaper. They're implementing a fuel efficiency policy which will gradually be put into effect. The plan is for trains to accelerate normally coming out of a station until they reach a preset speed. Once that speed...

The part which failed appears to be item 110 in the diagram provided by Paul. It looks to be some kind of large pin which connects the drawbar to the drawer assembly which would allow the train to negotiate curves in the track. I wonder how exactly this part failed? I haven't heard anything on...

Re; Yesterdays UP service disruption I'm shocked that news of this event hasn't been disseminated in the news. It was an extremely dangerous incident that could've potentially resulted in a fatality had the separation occurred while a passenger or employee been walking between the coaches at...

Yes, it's very interesting timing when taken altogether. I don't anticipate the worse case scenario that I painted above happening. But there's little doubt in my mind that we'll see an increased rate of employee departures specifically to VIA. Which could not of come at a worse time. They were...

Whelps, ML just shot themselves in the foot without realizing it. I'm sure you can only image what this news means to the people who are actually employed by Bombardier, to say there's a lot of trepidation and concern would be an understatement. People are surmising that it may be as simple as...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Some little tidbits I've gleaned lately; - Probably been posted elsewhere before but in any case the East maintenance facility confirmed to be going "live" i.e. fully operational as of January 1, 2018. - Bombardier has absolutely no intention of giving up the UP contract to TTC or anyone else...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Very true indeed, we might actually be able to starting luring over some more disgruntled CP & CN employee's again. Who'll only stay until they get qualified and then jump ship, but hey at least they did their part and kept the training dept. busy for a few years I guess.

Indeed the 4 day work week has been well received and we do have a fair bit of say in scheduling but they still need to be finalized and approved of by management. Many of our proposed job changes have been rejected.

Actually thee currently is a problem with the UP trains using a section of the track. In between mile 12 & 9(Etobicoke North & Weston station), UP trains are limited to a maximum of 60mph when traveling eastward because of excessive lateral sway. Strangely enough when traveling at the same speed...

GSR's(Guest Service Representatives) are allowed to move up to become CSA's and many already have and from then on they can move up to the running trades. The only real difference right now is that they are currently only given one chance to do so, but they are now fighting to change that...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yes absolutely, additionally the subdivision will still be dispatched by CP and with CP rules in effect. On that note word is that after a 3 year long process GO/MX have apparently received their certificate of fitness to become a federally regulated railroad. Once GO's new operation center is...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Not sure if this has been posted before or not but GO/MX has finalized its purchase of the Canpa Sub & Obico Yard. Starting from today from now on CP will drop off the new coaches in Obico yard and an GO equipment train will pick them up from there and take them back to Willowbrook once a...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

That's not entirely correct, we still need to do a number 3 brake test when we change crews and/or change ends at Union which most of the Lakeshore jobs now do outside of rush hour. Like before we are still required to observe the application and release of the brakes on the last car of the...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I'm not sure how it's bragging when pretty much no one on the transportation board knows who I'm even talking about, but in any case you could of just erased the name and not the rest of the paragraph which was about how the system works. Heavy handed moderating like that just makes me less...

I can confirm the maximum zone speed for all passenger trains in that stretch and the rest of the Weston sub is 80mph.

Don't pay much head to Ms. Aikins she doesn't know what shes talking about here there is no such safety feature in place that "immediately halts a train" when “a door is open a little" or even when a door is open all the way for that matter. What actually happens is power will no longer be...

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

I just did a very rudimentary assessment of residential development directly fronting the current CP line and the proposed missing link. Rather then looking at the property line, which would be difficult using google earth alone, I looked specifically at residential buildings directly within the...

Can't stand that guy, he is so full of shit trying to make his asinine proposal look like a good idea. If I knew he was in the area I'd drop a little stage two horn on him by 'accident'. Maybe that would wake him up from this fantasy world he's describing.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The rules haven't really change much over the years, still need someone back there. Every time a train needs to reverse there must be a rules qualified employee 'in position to observe the track' to be reversed upon. In most cases the conductor will have to walk back to the tail end of the...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

It only looks like its dimmed because of how focused the LED headlight is. The light intensity of the old halogen headlights gradually fades off to the side but with the new LED's the light intensity suddenly drops off to almost nothing past a certain angle(in the video it's exactly at 0:36).
