    Toronto Q Tower | 197.4m | 59s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

Well, if they are proposing 71 and 41 stories, then the one tower would need to be over 100 stories to make up the density. That's likely not feasible and the city would never approve that. Technically the 2 towers meet the required tower setbacks and 25m separation distance, so the site can...

    581 Parliament St.

A nice midrise building with ground floor retail would definitely be appropriate and a big improvement over the Esso station. 7 storeys feels about right.

    Cabbagetown

It feels like the restoration work on the old Winchester Hotel (now Tim Hortons) building has been going on FOREVER. Let's hope they're near the finish line.

    Cabbagetown

Thanks for the insight. I reached out to the Cabbagetown Residents Association and they were not aware of any formal redevelopment plans. I also reached out to the TCDSB and they said the same. So it looks like for the time being it'll remain as an alternative school and admin facility.

Does anyone know what's happening with St. Martin Catholic School, alternative school on Salisbury? Is it actually a functional school? Seems like a big lot. Does the TCDSB have plans for the site?

    Toronto 506 Church | 159.25m | 48s | Graywood | Diamond Schmitt

It was only a matter of time before this site got picked up by a developer. With that said, I do think it's critical to retain or re-create some sort of LGBTQ space (ie. Crews and Tangos). The City has an employment replacement policy; they should have a retail replacement policy as well...

    Toronto T3 Sterling Road | 52.52m | 11s | Hines | DLR

Awesome design! And the buildings will be mass timber! Here's an insightful excerpt from the cover letter: The buildings are proposed as modern mass timber wood buildings. Leveraging recent innovations in timber construction techniques, the buildings will demonstrate the potential for...

    Toronto TeaHouse 501 Yonge Condominiums | 170.98m | 52s | Lanterra | a—A

Is it me, or is this project coming together quite nicely? The materials and glazing look higher quality than I expected, and there seems to be a lot going on on the lower levels. I'm hopeful this will look good.

    Mississauga 55 Port East | ?m | 9s | FRAM + Slokker | Giannone Petricone

This is crazy! Fighting a 9 storey building near a GO Station? The NIMBYism here is insane.

    Toronto Avani and Avani2 at Metrogate Condos | 105.15m | 35s | Tridel | Graziani + Corazza

Wow. These are hideous boxes. Was there actually any design thought that went into this? G+C strike again.

    Vaughan 7Central | 175.4m | 55s | Graywood | Arcadis

This is an insane minor variance, but I still don't see how this could override the restrictive covenant that prohibits residential. It makes no sense. They legally can't build res regardless of whether the city approves the project.

    Toronto 66 Wellesley Street East | 101.78m | 31s | ONE Properties | S9

So a 17-day LPAT hearing is scheduled for May 2020 (not March), and the City's issues list is 39 items long. This is remarkable for a single condo tower development. 3-week hearings are usually reserved for major planning policy appeals, like appeals of entire Official Plans or Secondary Plans...

    Toronto 66 Wellesley Street East | 101.78m | 31s | ONE Properties | S9

Yes, thank you for stating this. That's exactly my point. There is a new policy framework for the Church Street Village. To conflate Church Street with the high-rise character of Charles or Wellesley West of Church ignores the existing and planned context of the site, and is blind to the new...

    Toronto Verdé Condos | 79.24m | 24s | FRAM + Slokker | Core Architects

Yep, this is Building E, the final phase of the Allenbury project. Building E is a market condo building. Most of the TCHC replacement rental units are in Building C.

    Toronto 66 Wellesley Street East | 101.78m | 31s | ONE Properties | S9

Wow, a March 2020 hearing. That's gotta hurt. I agree the backlog in the system is a problem but I have zero sympathy for this particular developer or project. The proposal for this site is ridiculously aggressive given the Village context and the in-force policy for the area, which was only...

I loveeee the snowmen as well! They are adorable. Everytime I walk by they make me smile. This is what public art should do.

Taken Friday - a different perspective. I counted 29 storeys.

    Toronto 50 at Wellesley Station | 114.9m | 37s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

More grey spandrel and another dull rectangular box of a condo. Someone kill me now. This is looking hideous!

    Church-Wellesley Village

A high-end pharmacy is apparently opening in the old Pizzailo space. I've also heard that a tapas bar/restaurant is opening in the old Bliss/George's Play space. That would at least be a more positive addition than yet another pharmacy. I'm still intrigued as to what's happening with the old...

    Church-Wellesley Village

The old Pizzaiolo space also had its For Lease sign removed a few weeks back. I wonder what's going into all of these spots?
