And again, how are doing any of those things going to make an accretive return on their investment? Spending another half billion on that mall is simply not going to make it worth half a billion more.

They wanted to make a conference centre and large hotel there, Hazel just got out of the mess that came from that with the conflict of interest and potential kick-backs etc... Oxford and it's 50% partner AIMco have a plan for this site, they have spent hundreds of millions on it in the past...

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

This is one place where a wedding-caked wedge would look interesting. Start it at the height of the Front Street side and take each floor higher as it goes south. Due the size of the site, open up the middle so you have a U with the open end facing front street at a flat height equal to the top...

No I don't think so. It was just wishful thinking on my part. They normally do a restaurant, bistro and espresso bar in their bigger stores. As for if it has been presented for sale, it HAS NOT been to Oxford, Cadillac or Brookfield and CBRE's investment team was surprised to hear me ask. If...

The fed's own that property and would have to publically market it if they were going to sell it. to date they HAVE NOT put that site on the market or informed any of the usual suspects (pension funds etc.) that it is available. I agree that Nordstroms would be a great fit there (hopefully...

There are no Walmarts in Manhattan. The city council has never allowed one. There are a couple of K-Marts though. I'm not pro Walmart, I'm just not anti-Walmart because it is "Evil" or more likely just the lowest hanging fruit for people to gripe about in this development. Kromer Radio was a...

+1 I go there for mexican food, little restaurants and bars, hard to find spices and coffee and duck eggs. That won't change with Walmart and the used clothing stores, butchers, fish mongers, hip furniture stores etc. won't either. That stretch of Bathurst was a wasteland and a waste. An...

Because god knows Walmart sells organic coffee, used clothing, odd/rare spices, wonderful ethnic food, fresh fish and meat etc. etc... Like I said before, if this was a shoppers and a fresh & wild no one would have cared. But it's big bad Walmart so it's evil incarnate. Even though a grocery...

    Toronto Bathurst College Centre | ?m | 4s | RioCan | Turner Fleischer

It's on an AVENUE. By definition this should the RETAIL and COMMERCIAL portion of a residential area. If this site was a block further west then fine, but it's on one of the busiest streets around, one one a streetcar track and in an area that is under serviced! This should be intensive...

It's specialized. It's specialized cheap! ;) Seriously though, it's new expensive retail. You aren't going to put mom and pop in there you will want national retailers who won't do a midnight move and will pay their rent and DRAW customers. If it wasn't walmart but was instead a shoppers and...

    Toronto Bathurst College Centre | ?m | 4s | RioCan | Turner Fleischer

How exactly is RioCan being unethical? They are a RETAIL Real Estate Investment Trust, not a CONDO developer. Maybe the highest and best use for the site is more housing in an already residential area instead of retail. if that is the case they will undoubtedly sell the site to someone who...

Toronto Eight Forty on St Clair | 28.95m | 8s | Worsley Urban | RAW Design

Agreed. This unit mix is no way matches anything around it. With living area of over 90,000 sq.ft. these units are fairly large, I don't know why they didn't do something more like 10 bachelor, 50 1-beds w/den, 30 2 beds and 5 3 bed penthouses / rooftop townhomes.

Toronto Richmond Adelaide Centre: EY Tower | 188.05m | 40s | Oxford Properties | Kohn Pedersen Fox

They are jackhammering apart the roof in sections right now. I wonder if they will go down floor by floor doing the same thing while leaving the shell? I guess there is no easy way to do it...

That rendering looks like the Cheesegrater on Leadenhall in London (an Oxford building).

Toronto Eight Forty on St Clair | 28.95m | 8s | Worsley Urban | RAW Design

Agreed, it would be a mistake not to have retail on that site. I can see them having issues with heights so I'm all for 3 story semis overtop of a story of retail if that is the density that they want to do but they really should have some retail there.

Toronto Richmond Adelaide Centre: EY Tower | 188.05m | 40s | Oxford Properties | Kohn Pedersen Fox

Looks like someone just put a webcam or time lapse camera on top of 105 Adelaide to watch the demo of the building.

Toronto Eight Forty on St Clair | 28.95m | 8s | Worsley Urban | RAW Design

3 or 4 small pieces of equipment on site as of last night (bobcat, small borer, little digger) plus a bunch of blue forms spaced out across the site. I don't know if they are doing test samples or what, but at least there is some movement.

    Toronto Sun Life Financial Tower & Harbour Plaza Residences | 236.51m | 67s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

That podium is wretched. Look at the poor harbour commission building beside it. Also what is that area going to look like with the office tower on the west side and the proposed Oxford office tower to the NE of the harour commission building? These renders look nice but the light will never be...

    Toronto Kingston&Co Condominiums | 38.4m | 10s | TAS | Teeple Architects

In Q1 2011 released in their earnings that: "First Capital Realty has also entered into a joint venture, dubbed Main and Main Developments, with a private developer to assemble, develop and operate sites in Toronto for retail or mixed use." I don't know who the private developer is but the...
