    Rob Ford's Toronto

“Toronto has a spending problem, not a revenue problem”- Rob Ford, 2010 and now... "Let’s get that revenue. Obviously we need the money to fund next year’s budget" link

    Graffiti

I have no idea what a 'luggan' is. Google gives links about people who have the last name 'Luggan'. Urbandictionary even has no clue...that's not a good sign.

    Graffiti

This is all very fascinating....but what does it have to do with graffiti??? "Back in my day, kids had respect!"...and there was graffiti back then too. People have been carving their names in to shit since the dawn of time. And if you argue that's not the case, or that there's more now than...

What's your favourite policy/program of the Miller gov't?

The function of these taxes isn't to 'balance the budget', it's to make taxation more equitable. Every municipality uses fees in this way. And any policy from any Mayor/Council ends at Steeles, tax rate adjustments included, so I'm not sure what your point is there.

What's your favourite policy/program of the Miller gov't?

Out of curiosity...why do you dislike this?

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Actually, the only Ford who commented in that piece was the vice-mayor...as usual.

    Graffiti

Please beat your children. Your kids are annoying as shit, and if I hit them I'll go to jail. But I don't see how that's a sensible solution to the graffiti problem.

    Graffiti

So here's the 'war on graffiti' battle plan: 1. fine the victims 2. beat our children (to teach them respect), thus halting the general decline of society

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

I'll say it again....404. There's nothing easy or cheap or practical about doing cut and cover across a massive, hugely busy freeway. If any Sheppard extension is going to happen, crossing the 404 will be job one, and once the TBM's are chugging east from there they might as well just keep...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Are we going to cut and cover through the 404? That should be interesting.

    Who Will Challenge Rob Ford?

Name recognition goes a long, long way. Any time the media wants the left's response to some Ford proclamation, it's inevitably Vaughan they turn to. He seems to be the defacto opposition leader in their minds...and come election time they run the show. But I agree...defeat will be much...

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

Actually, it's not. Ward 2 is south of Finch. map But don't worry, they're getting a subway there in 10 years. The mayor said so.

    Noisy Condo Tenants

Let's take the initial post in context and assume they're not looking to actually 'sound proof' the condo. The answer was really as simple as 'Yes, you can fix that. No, it's not terribly expensive or complicated. Here's how you do it.' No one here's talking about building a recording studio...

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

Caught one of the new trains at Wellesley tonight. Wouldn't have even noticed it if they hadn't popped the doors open on the wrong side (I was on the opposite platform). I hope they clean up some of that cabling before they put them into service ;)

    TTC: Next Bus/Streetcar Arrival System

That touches on my second favourite use of nextbus....exemplified by me standing casually at Yonge, watching people cram into a westbound 506, knowing there's an empty one hidden around the bend that'll be there in 1 minute. Bunching can be your friend when you have live arrival times.

    Graffiti

The places that promptly remove graffiti have no graffiti???.....shocking! If you're arguing this angle, maybe you should investigate the number of incidences of graffiti, rather than the current presence of graffiti. Does prompt removal actually discourage tagging? Is that cost effective? I...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Get used to hearing ideas to resolve this issue...the legacy streetcar lines are going POP too. The 504 should take care of the details well before the ECLRT comes online though. It's got every possible type of zone interaction, and massive pent-up demand...a perfect place to refine these...

Strachan Ave. Georgetown/Milton Rail Corridor Grade Separation

Seriously. We should go back in time and start this sooner!

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

That depends on where the heaviest Eglinton loads will be. I don't recall seeing any detailed info on ridership projections for individual segments. The stretch east of Don Mills was always going to be the least used, so there was already ample space for those SRT riders. Don Mills to...

    Graffiti

3 days ago I spray painted a bench. I was going to just use a marker to paint the whole thing, but then I remembered I wasn't a moron.
