    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

There's room to build something... a handsome building was razed AFTER the HBC tower went up. The crappy RBC pavilion came later.

It might not be about humility, but it just might be about love for their dead son. Why not take them at their word? Never stopped them in the past.

    Toronto The Rosedale on Bloor | 185.92m | 55s | Gupta | Arcadis

I did a "then and now" last spring that touches on this site: http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/miscellany-toronto-photographs-then-and-now.6947/page-841#post-999571

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

The last house on Bloor... between Parliament and Avenue. Thought I'd get in on the Then and Now action and throw up a couple of scenes at Bloor East and Sherbourne. It's easy to forget that Bloor used to be a tree-lined residential street before the Viaduct opened in 1918 and was widened...

    Toronto The Livmore | 138.68m | 43s | Vertica | IBI Group

One of the oldest (and most egregious) parking lots in the city. So happy to finally see it go.

National Post Locating to Greenwin Square

New Postmedia sign going up on the former Greenwin Square building on Bloor East.

Toronto Architecture From The 1960's and 70's

Thanks for that. There aren't that many good pictures of Bloor-Yorkville from the Sixties and Seventies.

Toronto CampusOne Student Residence (was University Place) | 79.85m | 25s | Knightstone | Diamond Schmitt

I just LOVE how the Star has a photo of the Lillian Smith library and the heritage building to the west, neither of which are part of the development. All designed to provoke maximum outrage in the comments section. The student residences, even if they have a ton of spandrel, will still mark an...

    The Plague of EIFS

Those buildings are among Toronto's biggest planning mistakes of the last fifty years. Under any other circumstances I would agree with you that the owners are defacing their property. However, in this case, I don't think the paint makes them any uglier; they were already hideous. In fact, they...

    Toronto 500 Wellington West | ?m | 10s | Freed | Core Architects

Probably mineral deposits and staining from rain as it coalesces on the underside of the balconies. It doesn't look like shoddy construction (possibly ill-conceived design) and would probably clean up with a wipe.

    Toronto Pace Condos | 146.3m | 42s | Great Gulf | Diamond Schmitt

Really appreciate how this one fills up its lot. At 8-9 storeys, the podium will be unapologetically monstrous.

    Toronto The Selby | 165.5m | 50s | Tricon | bKL Architecture

I live at Bloor and Sherbourne and drive. I honestly don't think traffic is that bad for a downtown intersection. I ardently hope his development gets built as presented. I'm even more eager to see the Lanterra project across the road get started.

Publicly Accessible tall buildings for photography?

For a great view of the skyline from the east, go to the new Bridgepoint Healthcare building. There is a beautiful rooftop garden on the 10th Floor (named in honour of Hallard Ballard!). No security to speak of.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

    Same clientele... I dare say.

    Toronto 728 Yonge | ?m | 3s | Brook McIlroy

What with the recent sale of the World's Biggest Bookstore site, I suspect the Cole family is liquidating its real estate holdings (at the top of the market).

Costco (42-46 Overlea Boulevard) Demolition of Heritage Building, Former Coca-Cola HQ

Looks like the Coke building is not long for this world. Fencing up and heavy equipment on site. I guess Costco wants a fait accompli before even a smidgen of heritage opposition can be mobilized.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

The odds of Blair having a job next year, even with a complete FAIL hanging around his neck, are excellent, since no one in this city is held to account.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

There's no way he would retire at this critical juncture. However slack the TPS may look right now, someone like Blair would never countenance going out looking like a quitter. Instead, I'm betting that if he is planning on holding a news conference, it will be to announce that he suddenly has...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Except that we need to know whether the police force for which we pay hundreds of millions of dollars is: (i) incompetent (ii) corrupt (iii) cowed by power or (iv) some combination of the preceding. I am usually the first one to poo-poo conspiracy theories, but if the Fords ultimately face no...
