this is what this city needs. There's so many NIMBY's out there that are crying for more housing but not skyscrapers etc. This midrise complements the neighbourhood, doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, adds the density that this city needs. why can't we just add midrise to a ton of...

it wouldn't be BlogTO if it had good reporting.

i'm not a pro here, but could the added residential floors be added where the mechanical rooms are and then the mechanical areas buried between floors? It would look worse in my opinion but is that an option or just not possible?

I think it comes back to drainage again.....and probably a whole slew of other issues that i'm not thinking of

Miller Park doesn't look terrible when it's closed because of the glass walls in the outfield. If the Rogers Centre could have a wall of glass in the outfield instead of seating and the hotel, it would look a whole lot better in there but that's where the roof sits when it's open so it can't...

Removing capacity is one of your issues? Capacity hasn't been 55,000 for many many years. MLB stadiums have been getting smaller in every city. the average is mid 40's now but there are a few even lower than that. In Pittsburgh, it's so cozy and intimate that the highest seat in the entire...

i'm curious if the people who are upset that it may get demolished are jays fans? I can't imagine that there are any jays fans out there that are asking to save it. It was amazing at its time but there's nothing worth saving here. It's absolutely terrible to watch a game in. I've been to 18...

I guess that answers the question above, the chips get fixed and smoothed out afterwards.

I used to be excited for this building simply for the retail space as it's really needed in the area and i think a small cafe can be supported by the surrounding buildings and people using the lake shore. I think someone mentioned that they cut the retail space in half or something like that...

Full transparency, I was in NXT until earlier this year. I LOVED my condo unit and the amenities but the building looked terrible from the outside. It looked like i lived in a modern version of a slab apartment building from the outside even though my actual unit had an amazing layout, was...

I think in a buildings forum, people are allowed to scrutinize the design of a building. it's ugly. Some of the pics have been taken from nxt, so what? lots of pics have been taken from the gardiner and from the lake shore as well so it's an odd thing for you to say. The fact that you're so...

should be interesting to see what happens to the land west of it as one of those towers was really wide. That thread is buried and there's been no news on it but one day there'll be activity

yea i didn't mean iconic as amazing, i just meant it as it's one of the original condos to be in the skyline along with that building with the arch and the units over it.

could be a cannabis shop that doubles as a serious head shop. most cannabis shops have a small section of accessories, maybe their angle is to have a large selection of smoke/grow accessories like lamps and kits. maybe that's the DIY angle and the name is wordplay.

if they kept it going the way it looks right now, it would look like housing in the eastern bloc

i'm not an expert at this stuff, it's just what i assume. was hoping for confirmation. there are buildings closer to the water that have underground parking so it's a little confusing to me.

how come this building and the one next to it have above ground parking? is it a water table issue? NXT right next door has below grade parking (though that one sits north of the gardiner and has water leakage issues in their parking garage as it's being rebuilt.

for sure I get that. I'd be happier with 2 thinner towers. I get they need larger floor plates but this thing is way fatter (at least optically) compared to towers around it. Even in the skyline shots it looks way fatter than FCP and it's amplified driving in from the east.
