    YRT 2011-2012 strike

Tough luck for me. My preferred trip from Square One to Union is take the GO bus on midday. About 60 minutes, plus cycling from Union to University Ave. Now that trip will length to almost 1hr 45 mins! Slower trip via MiWay and TTC subway. Might well as bike all the way there, for similar time...

City councillors wants to ban shark fin soup

Thanks your worship mayor (and all the wonderful councillors) of Mississauga Why not ban durian altogether? They smell pretty bad upon close range. Or dog meat?

The Samsung deal will increase bills $65 a year

To be clar - no big government is good government. Free market would make the deal reasonable and actually create jobs but the Canadian government needs to act like a social butterfly so they intervene in every way to make it in their favour, only to be proven wrong later at the end of the deal.

Which Party are you voting for?

None - I'm a former conservative turned libertarian, and so far none of these parties stay committed to deliver their promises. Good luck to us Ontarians, as we embrace McGuinty's third term bureaucracy.

Why I don't take public transit anymore

Might well as pack up and go to other country (such as Germany and Turkey). It's shame that Canada is still the only country without any plan or whatsoever for commitment to transit in OECD, and its unlikely to take place anytime soon. Canada's "Economic Action Plan" just sounds like another...

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

Is there any other pedestrianized zone proposed by the city (other than John and Bloor?)

    Airport Security Screening

http://www.cnn.com/2011/TRAVEL/04/28/canada.air.safety/index.html?hpt=Sbin I know its old news, but on the other side of the border, FAA is looking at this. Meanwhile, a presidential candidate in the US has proposed to scrap TSA if elected...

Licenses and plates may loom for Toronto cyclists

What a waste of air by loons named Blair and Nunziata. Does she not know T.O. is in deficit and all this talk about "licensing" cyclist? How much more does Ford "administration" need to feed already-bloated police services? And will there be TSA-style border guards at Etobicoke Creek to search...

Despite Toronto, Montreal gridlock, commuters reluctant to use transit

My commute from SQ1 to downtown takes me 1 hour by transit on ordinary day, 1 hr 30 mins in rush hour. Going there by car would be no more than 30 mins in non-rush hour and over 1 hour by rush hour. Biking from SQ1 to downtown only takes me between 50 minutes and an hour & 15 minutes (non-stop...

Which would you choose: Sheppard Subway Extension or Sheppard Crosstown LRT?

Some questions: is centre road median ROW would have: - transit signal priority? - at least 1/3 of the line avoids surface traffic? Does this LRT stop frequently at traffic lights? - utilize four or more car in a single train? Not necessary but high frequency (5~10 minutes) for most of the day...

    Deamalgamation for Toronto and Hamilton?

Has anyone have any idea how amalgamation is viewed in US, Europe or elsewhere? In Asia (particularly Japan where smaller villages and towns are constantly absorbed into neighbouring cities) the governments actively push for city mergers, making the situations even uglier... That said, I can't...

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

To me having Eglinton extended along Hwy 2 looks even better than this. I'm wondering if there's a heavy demand along the corridor...

Which would you choose: Sheppard Subway or Eglinton LRT?

So what are we going for? A Shep subway that serves only North York and S'Boro (maybe York Region folks, indirectly), or an Eglinton LRT that could potentially cater all the way from Sauga to Durham? Sheppard should be subway, at least aesthetically. But from my experience, there seems to be not...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

What an oxymoron. You can't be a gay person, at the same time as being homophobic. Everyone knows that RF doesn't come close to a bit with "at least" half-decent Smitherman. Insulting them because of their looks and their marital status are just dumb. Homeboy.

    Target

Pardon me for going slightly off the topic about Target... but wasn't there used to be Sports Authority in certain locations across the GTA before they pulled out completely? Now the sporting goods market here are entirely dominated by SporChek (Sportmart is almost gone, maybe Source for Sport)...

    Square One Shopping Centre

In theory, if the developments are active on Burnhamthorpe strip, I would concur. More businesses around from north of SQ1 would shift from Rathburn to B'hamthorpe. In practice though, I remember nothing but long gone story of Metropole condominium. And Downtown21 plan is really deceptive at...

Can commute be improved for Toronto drivers?

What kind of nutjob dares to say these things? I'd like one of what Archanfel is smoking please.
