Who would buy a 500~550 sqft condo?

I disagree... Changes in design have allowed for much more useable space, and better unit layouts. This is seen with less hallway space, and more efficient technologies within the units. For example: (i) My washer/dryer is a two-in-one, with no need for venting; (ii) My dish-washer is...

Which are the best Waterfront condos in downtown Toronto?

That's why I said "one of the last". There are still a few sites left, but I really like the location of this one, being at the foot of Yonge Street.

Which are the best Waterfront condos in downtown Toronto?

When you say "newest", are you implying already built and registered? If not, I think that Pier 27 offers an amazing location (one of the last on the lake's shore), with a cool design, and very easy access to the financial district as well as other transportation routes.

    Upside Down + Fuse Condos (Channington/Brownstone, 14s x2, 26s x2, Burka)

What do you mean that some "model suites are sold out"? As in, they have multiple full model-suites onsite and each of those typical suites have been sold out?

smooth ceilings ! Are they worth it ?

Agreed, most condos that I have seen have this rule in place. However, I have never heard of it being enforced, or complained about.

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

Agreed. Actually, I do not mind the adverts so much and I quite like the building. I think it is fun. But, those fake fans are ridiculous. Every time I pass by, I think that it is the cheesiest thing I have ever seen.

smooth ceilings ! Are they worth it ?

I think it would be nice if my neighbour above me had more carpet/broadloom! But, within the unit I don't feel it makes much of a difference. Maybe in 2,000+ SF units it would make a difference between multiple rooms, but in a standard 1bd to 2bd+d, there are not that many rooms and they are...

smooth ceilings ! Are they worth it ?

Wow. I am amazed at the "pro popcorn ceiling" response. I can't stand the popcorn ceilings. I feel that it gives condo units a very 1970s feel, and ruins any modern feeling to the unit. I also find them to give units a very "dusty" feeling to them, and I imagine they collect dust and...

Buying a home on a main road.... Pros and Cons

Agreed. Sorry, I was not clear... I was comparing purchasing a condo unit, to an existing (older) property/house. I was not referring to any new subdivisions.

Buying a home on a main road.... Pros and Cons

Not sure if I agree with you on the noise aspect. While true that not all units face the busy street, I have read numerous studies that the noise level on a low floor is the same as on a high floor, due to the way the noise-travels against the buildings. Best way to have a quiet interior is...

Buying a home on a main road.... Pros and Cons

Some more "cons" to add to the list: 1. ACCESS: A further "con" is access to your parking. Is your parking lane access or main-road access? It may seem like a small issue, however if you are living on a very busy street, and you have main-road access you may have a lot of trouble...

If you are an electrician, and they are not much more expensive, then there is no reason to not do it!

    Window Coverings

Are you speaking about electronic roller blinds? They are awesome, especially if your unit has a loft with a huge larger 18+ foot expanse of glazing running from the main level. If you have typical 8-10-foot ceilings, and your rooms are not wider than 30-foot, then the electrical may be a waste...

Does 8 vs 9 feet really matter?

I was commenting more from the standpoint of the "feel of the room". I am not a real-estate agent so I can only guess with regards to re-sale value... but I would imagine that the higher the ceiling the better "curb appeal" the unit has to potential purchasers.

Does 8 vs 9 feet really matter?

I think it totally depends on the layout of the suite, and the glazing systems installed. Wide units with floor to ceiling windows can pull off 8-foot ceilings, and look quite spacious. However, the same can not be said for narrow units. It is all perspective and suite-layouts. Post your...
