Got a plug-in hybrid. What Toronto parking lots have EV spots & charging?

Manulife Centre has some now, but it sounds like it's for their tenants, not for their public parking. However, I'm not sure. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/industry-news/property-report/landlords-get-charged-up-for-electric-cars/article23899122/ Thanks, there's a wealth...

Got a plug-in hybrid. What Toronto parking lots have EV spots & charging?

Thanks. I was wondering specifically about free charging stations though, if they exist. At least in off peak times (weekends, evenings) it only costs about 35-40 cents to charge my car so paying $2.50 wouldn't make sense. My car only uses 3 kWh per charge, since it's a PHEV. It's about 2.5...

Got a plug-in hybrid. What Toronto parking lots have EV spots & charging?

I just bought a Toyota Prius Plug-in. Where can I park in Toronto and get free charging, and conveniently placed reserved parking spots? I know there are EV chargers at the Distillery District, but I believe that's only for Smart Car EV owners. There is also mention of spots at the Yonge /...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

A few that I looked at were good deals IMO. Either older units with dated and worn interiors, or else newer ones with crappy tenants. However, they were usually significantly cheaper than comps in the same building or nearby buildings, making it much easier to justify a nice reno - new floors...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Traditionally, sellers of SFHs are taught the cold winter months are the worst time to sell, because demand is low, and consequently prices tend to be low, even when there is lowish inventory. Whether that's still true or not in 2015 is a different story though. Depends on the neighhourhood...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Yes and no. For new high-ratio buyers to take advantage of say record low variable rates or else fixed rates under 5 years, they actually have to qualify at the posted 5-year rate, which is currently 4.74%. Those new buyers going with the 5-year fixed rates can take advantage of the decreased...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Mortgage rate war heats up as smaller lenders offer deep discounts Only weeks after the country’s banks began offering eye-popping specials such as 2.84-per-cent five-year fixed mortgages, the average discounted five-year rate offered by the Big Six banks now sits around 2.79 per cent, driving...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

When you can get 2.65% for a 5-year from a major bank, and even less from a broker, then 3.84% for a 10-year isn't attractive at all IMO. But then again, 10-year rates have never been attractive.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

I don't think my rate is a bad rate. It was an excellent rate for the time. And yes it's at a big bank. They offered me 3.29% on the phone. I said no, and asked what I wanted. I told them 2.89% and the very next day it was approved. But the point is that rates are even lower now, and there is...

Planned School Closures by the TDSB

One of the main points of mergers - with strong leadership - is to reduce inefficiency and duplication of services. It may not always work, but it often does.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

I have a 5-year fixed rate of 2.89%. This was from a couple of years ago, and I thought I was quite fortunate to get that rate. However, current 5-year fixed rates in 2015 are noticeably lower. People are commonly getting rates 20 basis points lower than mine.

Planned School Closures by the TDSB

That's just bull. In the 21st century, religious indoctrination does not belong in public schools. And guess what? The courts agree... to an extent. Ultimately, IMO the Catholic school board no longer deserves to exist, because religious indoctrination does not deserve to get public funding. If...

Planned School Closures by the TDSB

My nephew who challenged his catholic high school on the religious classes issue did so in the previous decade. The school's administration obviously wanted no part of having any student being allowed to skip those classes. However, once they were seriously challenged, that school's...

Outside electrical outlets on balconies of residential towers

Well, even if there were a permit, this would fail an inspection, as this is a serious violation of building code. You are not allowed to run extension cords through holes in walls as it is a fire hazard. Yes, this is a real world concern, as extension cords are a very common source of fires...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Well, moving to Etobicoke or Scarborough obviously isn't comparable to moving to Brooklin. BTW, it seems your travel time to work is the same as mine. 30 mins... although I must admit that ever since they started the LRT construction on Eglinton it's increased to 35 mins or so sometimes.

Planned School Closures by the TDSB

Yes, but others have mentioned it's not the only one.

Outside electrical outlets on balconies of residential towers

It should be noted that some condos won't allow Xmas lights even if there is a power receptacle there. Not ideal, and illegal too. This doesn't meet building code.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

You're in North York I presume. In many areas of North York, you can do that. However, in many areas of North York you can't. Many parts of North York are very car dependent as well. Similarly, you can live in Scarborough and Etobicoke and be in locations where cars are not as necessary...

Planned School Closures by the TDSB

What do you mean by quasi-private tier? I'm asking because for example my nephew went to a catholic high school in Ontario and didn't pay a cent. He didn't take any religion classes either. They tried to make him, but he refused, and his mother threatened to take it up with the province, so the...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

For example, one area I sometimes like to go is the Dufferin area, but it can be a bit inconvenient by transit, depending upon where you live. It gets boring if you always just meet within 20 mins walking distance of Dundas and Yonge.
