Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Why can't these trains operate during a freezing rain event? I understand ION was shut down last weekend.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Doesn't radial mean, routes running out from downtown in various directions. If that is the case, how is the Ontario Line any different? The opposite are cross-connection routes that usually don't serve the downtown area at all. I will give Doug Ford some credit, if we see shovels in the...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Yes, the plan to build a bus tunnel through downtown was never completed. The expected construction period for the tunnel would have occurred during the Mike Harris 'Commonsense Revolution' years when transit capital spending across Ontario came to a halt. It was never seriously considered...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

The problems relate to both trains and buses. The end result is that commute times for too many people are significantly longer than before. This is unacceptable. We can't be spending billions to achieve worse service.

You have forgotten that the Trillium Line has been operating since 2001.

Hopefully, the train will become more reliable. People will then stop complaining. I have commented about the lack of redundancy or parallel service, which is a flaw with the current plan. The issue with bus frequency is a bone of contention, and the solutions don't address poor off-peak...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

A lot of the problems still relate to the trains as well. There were 6 straight days of train failures, Friday to Wednesday. For some who had time off from Saturday to Monday, this may not seem so bad. We can't have that frequency of train problems when we are funneling such a large portion...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Thankfully I don't have to go downtown regularly. Except in peak hours, it is now a double transfer for me. With unreliable trains and buses, how does one plan such a trip and make each transfer work?

    Ottawa Transit Developments

The issue is that the trains are not reliable and the buses are in many cases even less reliable than during the period of LRT construction. This has produced extended commute times. We are not talking about whiners about change., These are widespread complaints about bad service. The public...

    VIA Rail

I expect that Montreal - Quebec will be part of Phase 1 to help with Liberal support in Quebec and to get Bloc support for the proposal I expect all party support except the Conservatives who want to chain us to the oil industry and don't really believe in climate change anyways

    VIA Rail

I believe part of the current HFR study is how HFR will interact with REM.

    VIA Rail

I have heard this argument before. However, when we compare the value of REM versus VIA HFR, we need to compare passenger kms instead of just raw passenger numbers. This puts things into better and a more fair perspective.

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Getting HFR off the ground is the starting point for improving passenger rail service. The success of HFR may present other opportunities in the future. In the meantime, an improved bus model is the way to go to build up ridership.

They have to do this otherwise longer dwell times at stations would make the trains even more crowded.

    Moose Rail (National Capital Region)

The shopping centre itself is supposed to be intensified at some point. There is a master plan for this. Much of the land on the south side of Billings Bridge is flood plain and historically has been flooded many times. The two small office buildings near the river are subject to periodic...

    Moose Rail (National Capital Region)

The river is as much as 40 feet deep on a line from the north end of Bank Street, possibly more than 100 feet deep north of Entrance Bay.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Only Ottawa would introduce a new rail service and reduce service on many connecting bus routes at the same time. Don't they understand that ridership does not grow if they are reducing service frequency?

    Moose Rail (National Capital Region)

Moose was never credible. My position is that any proposal that saves the bridge from further deterioration, including a multi-use trail, preserves the bridge for the potential return of rail service. I don't see north shore intercity rail service to Montreal returning, when we already...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Somebody said that a person pushed the door button after the doors had closed. This caused the doors to re-open and go into fault. The problem here is that this happened at Bayview Station where the interconnection is with Line 2. On Line 2, you have to push the button to open the doors. If...
