    VIA Rail

Good question. The only way that I see is to have the federal government mandate all railroads to upgrade their infrastructure by extending the rail sidings throughout the country or forcing the construction of a second rail so that passenger trains can pass and the long freight trains can pull...

    VIA Rail

This is good news. However it also shows that VIA should focus on improving service in the Corridor and on the Ocean. I think the East Coast is under services. The Ocean should be restored to at least 6x a week service if not daily. Given that there is little freight congestion on the Ocean...

    Toronto Beacon Condos | 124.66m | 35s | Sorbara | Wallman Architects

Development has greatly slowed down in NYCC. The Sorbara project is the only one actively under construction. There is another one just up the road at Churchill but it hasn't started construction yet. The only other construction is the Sheppard Centre renovation and new tower. Maybe once...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Agreed. Pilot should have started in the fall (September ) or in this Spring.

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Miller was the best mayor the mega city of Toronto had full stop. He invested in the city and brought a massive development boom. The waterfront, to transit, to arts and culture. Did he make mistakes? Of course but he tried to do well by the entire city. The problem was that the suburban areas...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I find it interesting that only the University to Bathurst section of the street has the most impact. The stretch from University to Jarvis seems just as busy as usual. I think starting in Winter was a mistake and the cold weather did not help. Winterlicious os coming up. I’m hoping the city...

Yonge Street, North York Streetscape Improvements

It would be helpful to have a Bathurst SB to 401 WB ramp. Yonge gets a lot of use as a regional road for SB to 401 WB traffic.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Same businesses are arguing about minimum wages too. These changes are here to stay. Either your business can adapt or close up shop.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

The businesses that are complaining are the ones digging their own graves. King needs more capacity and giving priority to transit is the only way forward. Their complaints are bring about the wrong noise. They are making it seem like the zombie apocalypse on King but ignore all the transit...

    Toronto River City Condos Phase 3 | 99.66m | 29s | Urban Capital | Saucier + Perrotte

Fair enough. I work nearby so from a distance it looks like not much has been done on the outside. Glad to see it’s making progress. I can understand about not working during this cold streak.

Yonge Street, North York Streetscape Improvements

True but without funding it won’t proceed any time soon. It’s similar to the John Street rebuild. Designs have been done years ago but it’s sits on the back burner.

Yonge Street, North York Streetscape Improvements

Looks like this project is shelved until funding becomes available. I thought they were going to use Section 37 funds collected in NYCC area to fund this. I guess not.

    Toronto River City Condos Phase 3 | 99.66m | 29s | Urban Capital | Saucier + Perrotte

The construction of this building seems to be stalled. It hasn't changed much in the last several months.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Well the numbers won’t be shared until after the election. Plus what does the province have to do with this? Until Ontario PCs get elected and take over subways, the TTC still runs them and decides service levels and pays for funding. York Region has little to say as they are not operating the...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Maybe the simplest thing to do is to make TTC free on King from Bathurst to Jarvis. This costs nothing to implement and would just require fare inspectors not to check fares in that area. People could pay a fare to use the rest of the system. It would be a great PR campaign to support business.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

It will be interesting to see some real numbers over 2018. I suspect they will be very low. Even before the extension the line was always empty north of Yorkdale. Once the mall closes the line is barely used in late night. There will be pressure to cut operating costs as this line will start...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

An urban success story indeed. This will attract jobs and new residences and the density will support the new LRT. A positive cycle.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Those numbers of passengers could easily all fit on one or two buses. This new extension is grossly underused for the service provided. The TTC should consider turning back 1/2 trains at Sheppard West, especially during such low periods like evenings, weekends and holiday season. There is no...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

This is great but they need to do something in the winter months to keep the businesses from University to Bathurst happy. They seem to have been losing business due to this change and something should be done to attract people to come to King via TTC. Maybe they should do what they did on St...
