    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

My bet is that Eglinton and Finch both open before Ford is up for reelection in June 2026. So opening for both lines I predict to be within 24 months with Finch opening first.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I have young kids and we walk 400-1km distances all the time. It’s a weird North American thing to not walk and it’s why lots of folks on this continent have mobility issues - use it or loose it sadly. I see people who live 500m from a store drive and park on Yonge to get to the store. It’s mad...

Yes. How is it that other cities seem to deal with this and not have parallel overlapping service.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

There is no need for any office buildings by GO stations for a long time. What js needed is housing and commercial retail near GO like Grocers, or daycares or heck even a dry cleaner and a cafe that’s not a Tim’s. Many European cities with good regional rail have many stores in their stations so...

    2024 United States presidential election

The issue for Dems is their only alternative to Biden is Harris. If they pass her over then the Dems are in for an internal civil war within the party of the old guard vs the AOC BIPOC woke corner of the party. So either they stick with Biden and go down with this captain or pivot quickly and go...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I never understood the need for a parallel bus service when the LRT stops are about 800m apart. It’s not that much of a walk for able bodied and for those with mobility issues they can take wheel trans or an Uber. Sorry but public transit should be designed for the majority and not to please...

Not great but progress. I think 2024 is likely not feasible but hoping it opens in 2025!

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

It’s too early. We may see mass glass facade replacements or other major exterior repairs. Demolition will be a last resort if the owners can’t cough up the funds to repair.

University Avenue (History and Future Redesign)

Those lanes look wide enough to drive a car through there. Are those standard size bike lane widths or something extra wide here?

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Not yet but we may see poorly built condos fail and of the owners can’t pay the special assessments they will sell and the building may fall into disrepair. The older buildings built ~ pre-2010 are much better quality.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

It’s mostly just not feasible. A lot of these buildings will fall to demolition sooner than later or convert to hotels.

I’m surprised they can say construction is basically finished and they are only testing and doing integration work while Eglinton station shows there is still lots of work to do to get Eglinton on Yonge line ready. Unless the plan is to leave Eglinton on Yonge line in a decrepit state unworthy...

Fugly building. It fits perfectly into the NYCC skyline. :)

Are there two tracks on the overpass or just 1? I hope there is two but it’s hard to see from this angle.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I thought this entrance would also be accessible or will that be the north entrance?

    Streetcar Tracks on Adelaide

Adelaide is a key route from downtown to the DVP. I always question why parking it allowed on it. It’s a car sewer. Let it be one. There are no real destinations on Adelaide so let the car volume go there in exchange make King and Queen in that area transit priority and more space to pedestrians.

    2022/24 Russian-Ukrainian War

That’s exactly what it’s becoming. It’s being isolated by the west but being funded by the eastern rogue states of Iran and China. Russia will be happy to do Chinas dirty work. China takes West money in exchange for cheap goods then they send money and weapons to Russia to disturb the West...

    2022/24 Russian-Ukrainian War

I agree. So where was the hindsight to get Ukraine to negotiate while they were ahead in the fall of 2022. Not it seems like NATO and the U.S. good intentions have led Ukraine down the serpent path to be forced to give up territory to have a cease fire with its neighbour.

    2022/24 Russian-Ukrainian War

It ain’t going to happen. It’s time for Ukraine to start negotiating to save itself from being destroyed and absorbed by Russia. The West has shown now they are not a real force. They will not stand up for fellow emerging democracies and in fact that democracy as a model of governance is weak...
