    Vaughan Transit City Condos | 176.17m | 55s | CentreCourt | Diamond Schmitt

My first time flying into Toronto (well before moving here) my girlfriend at the time points out the plane window towards downtown Mississauga and goes "Wow, look how big downtown is!" - then within a few seconds the actual downtown core came into view and she looks at me like o_O. It was quite...

    Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (nCoV-2019)

On CBC last night one of their experts was saying that in laboratory settings, cats have been shown to carry and potentially transmit to other cats (unclear about humans); but don't exhibit much in the way of symptoms. Dogs much less so. She sounded fairly unconcerned about cats transmitting...

    Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (nCoV-2019)

I agree that posting articles ad nauseam here is a bit unnecessary. However, I do enjoy people's thoughts on the impact of the virus on ongoing projects, for real estate in general after we get back to 'normal', etc. That kind of discussion, in my opinion, absolutely belongs here.

    Toronto Macdonald Block Reconstruction | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON | WZMH

Thanks for the response! That does make sense. And again, sorry for the simple questions, but does this mean that for whatever reconstruction they are doing, they are able to do it all from the scaffolding? Does it stay up for the duration of the project, or is there a deconstruction period...

    Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (nCoV-2019)

To speculate on numbers just seems silly. There's literally no way to know what would have happened if not for the having taken the exact path that they did. We can model these things, but the margin of error is huge - it's probably anywhere from 20,000-80,000 or broader.

    Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 (nCoV-2019)

So, interestingly, this week I began running the stairs in my high-rise, given gym closure. I got in on my floor because I realized I'd never seen the entrance to the stairs before in the lobby / ground floor area. After my workout I went all the way down, and eventually found the exit - which...

    The Retail Apocalypse

Haven't they outright said they are prioritizing essential orders? Don't you think that waiting for your french press is a small price to pay?

    Toronto Macdonald Block Reconstruction | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON | WZMH

Can anyone explain to someone who doesn't have a background in the industry at all, why they have to cover so much of the building with scaffolding? Will it eventually be the entire building? An entire side?

Toronto The Charles at Church | 152.7m | 47s | Aspen Ridge | BDP Quadrangle

March 22, 2020 Demolition of the former presentation centre (638 Church) is underway.

Toronto Scotiabank North Tower at Bay Adelaide Centre | 140.2m | 32s | Brookfield | KPMB

Agreed that the longer term impact on the market is unclear; but in looking at the commercial real estate market and demand for office space, I personally don't see any pent up demand being unleashed (at best a return to normal), and I do see potential for all of this WFH to shift demand...

    Church-Wellesley Village

This is probably true of all communities that have seen a major influx of people. Although agreed that populations which may inherently be marginalized may feel the impact more.

    Church-Wellesley Village

Can you elaborate? It's not as though Tinder, Bumble, etc. have killed spaces for the heterosexual community to spend time other than restaurants. So why do you think online dating (if we're calling it that) has killed spaces for the queer community?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Typically, in a commercial setting, the owners pass on property taxes to the occupant of the building. This may not be the case for all lessees along this stretch, but it's much different than say, residential.

Toronto The Charles at Church | 152.7m | 47s | Aspen Ridge | BDP Quadrangle

I walk by the building on my way to the gym each morning, so will do my best to keep updated with pictures of the progress. There's not a ton to see right now (esp. at 6am), and pardon the lighting, but here is a view of the site, as well as a couple of these holes they appear to be digging at...

Toronto The Charles at Church | 152.7m | 47s | Aspen Ridge | BDP Quadrangle

I've noticed a few bins on site - they seem to be removing ground near parts of the foundation. Definitely some movement in the past two weeks or so.

I'm sorry for the terribly delayed reply, but I've just recently moved onto Charles St. and have been slowly catching up on the development. I walk by this site every morning on my way to the gym, and had zero idea there used to be trees there. Wow were those ever nice. I understand why they had...
