Dundas St Rapid Transit (Metrolinx, Mississauga, Halton Region, CoT)

It's an update to Mississauga city council on the city's rapid transit projects. I've copied the portions that relate to the Dundas BRT.

A powerpoint presentation to council accompanied the written report. I've copied a couple of the slides, but I think it's worth watching the presentation. The presentation starts at the 29:30 minute mark of the video recording.

The Director of the city's Rapid Transit program office, Carolyn Ryall, faced a number of questions from councillors. She suggested that the construction of the Dundas East and Lakeshore BRTs might not actually take 4 to 5 years, but that staff were presenting a wide potential window for construction, and that the exact length of construction would be determined once designs were finalized.

It didn't sound like there is a firm timeline on when the Toronto section of Dundas from Etobicoke Creek to Kipling will be completed. On the other side, the Dundas West BRT is also still under discussion.

The Lakeshore BRT protects for future conversion to streetcar or LRT by creating a utility-free zone, presumably underneath the BRT lanes.

There were also questions about road/rail grade separations on the GO lines. Metrolinx and the city have not yet agreed to a cost-sharing formula for those new bridges and underpasses. Also, the city has apparently been providing reports to aid Metrolinx's study of the Milton line.

Also, she said Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay will appear before Mississauga city council next week.

Also noteworthy she mentions implementing lessons learned from the Toronto LRT's, most importantly TSP for the Hurontario LRT.
