Additionally the Line 3 blue is similar to the Richmond Hill line blue. That didn’t matter when Line 3 and RH were far away from each other.
But Ontario Line will intersect with RH line and that can cause visual confusion.
Name change to Eglinton East “Rapid Transit” project is significant. City is opening itself to developing an idea that is not a tramway.
Finch West seems to have been a shock for City. They created these strange middle of the road streetcar lines with their dreams of euro-urban heaven on the...
TTC are supposed to be the public-facing agency and responsible for collecting feedback. They have a survey linked on this page: https://www.ttc.ca/riding-the-ttc/Line-5-Eglinton
Thanks for sharing that. Interesting fact!
One question I have for the team making these maps is the continued use of the old LRT logo. Metrolinx replaced that on their wayfinding standard with a unified symbol with the subway.
On a serious note Major Mac is a good terminus for the line. It could go up to Teston if yard space is needed in the farmlands, but MM is a natural terminus and connects most of Maple and Woodbridge.
You’re correct. The LRT Master Agreement 2012 was the supreme document until the New Deal and subsequent 2023 TOFA were signed. Technically the TTC was only confirmed to be the operator upon the TOFA signing.
LRT Master Agreement: “It is intended that TTC will operate for Metrolinx as owner...
The gift that keeps on giving 😭
I am not optimistic about the operations. If these issues are happening after thorough, months long testing, what issues will we be facing when it opens for service? How are these kinks not yet resolved? Why are new issues popping up so late in the game? Was the...
Michael Lindsay called them out this morning on the radio. This is honestly a bit depressing. Maintenance should have been kept under public control. A whole LRT line is now dependant on the penny-pinching of a faceless consortium that will vanish into the air w/o any accountability.
So these are not based on the Bombardier tech used on the Rockets? My understanding of the original RFP was that TTC wanted basically a Rocket 2.0 so that maintenance could be simpler and they wouldn't have to conduct the same level of thorough testing as they would on a new rolling stock.
