For some reason, I was just dreaming about Ned Hanlan, *another* great Torontonian....
Cleaning out an old drawer, I found this here old photo.
Isn’t that Drug Smith Sr, out on a mission to deliver some cracks to City Hall?
Ned Hanlan had great leg strength too. Almost as strong as Drug Jr's industrial strength bullshit.

At only 150 pounds himself, world champion rower Ned Hanlan probably didn't leg press 1200 pounds.
Yet Ned Hanlan became councillor for Ward 4 in 1898.
It's hard to believe the contrast between then (Hanlan) and now (Fords). Hanlan seems to have had a different kind of clueless from RoFo n DoFo. It's striking, in spite of all the years in between them.
"At virtually every meeting of council he proposed improvements, calling for electrification and bicycle paths on the Island, special lanes for bicycles in the city, better streetcar service, a new public library, and public swimming-pools. While he obtained some of these benefits he seemed oblivious to the niceties of municipal logrolling or the power of interest groups. He publicly condemned the harbour trust, on which he sat, for its contribution to lake sewage and the neglect of breakwaters. Moreover, he advocated public ownership of the profitable ferry service managed by his brother-in-law Lawrence Solman."

For a guy that's supposed to be in Bala (ish) he sure is spending a lot of time at least 45 mins from there (Huntsville, Friday, is even further add a half hour) and there is a lot of living you could do in Bala, or Port, or Gravenhurst or, or... way closer. If he has a "handler" (that'd be local or at least local familiar) surely he'd turn up in pics once or twice closer...
