Bay Concourse lighting!!

Maybe we will get an indoor shortcut from TTC to the York Concourse food court!
(At least an indoors hoarded route while they finish the rest of Bay Concourse)

Here is a telephoto overexposure:

Here is the unzoomed context. I zoomed into the dark space underneath the concrete overhang.

Incidentally, this also becomes a new shortcut to [Air Canada Centre / Scotiabank Arena], if an entrance to Bay Teamway is connected to the York Concourse Food court (via the planed pedestrian expressway they're building inside Union)

If so, the signage to [Air Canada Centre -> Scotiabank Arena] only needs to be fixed. It indeed is a shortcut, since I know about the central pedestrian expressway connecting both Bay teamway+York teamway thru the central axis of Union Station lower level.

They do not have to finish Bay Concourse. They only need to open a hoarded halfwidth - even a construction-walled halfwidth of the pedestrian expressway is wider than the current Leather Shop Bypass route.

There were obvious hints of a potential hoarded bypass thru middle of Bay concourse from TTC/Bay Teamway to York Concourse Food Court. (While they continue finishing off Bay Concourse).

Even if they have to put temporary protective scaffold cover (falling object protection), this will make a lot of commutes so much easier. If true...

Fingers crossed. With glee!

If so, the signage to "Air Canada Centre" is not a mistake.

I think the issue is the air Air Canada Centre was renamed in June to Scotiabank Arena.

I dunno, that ladder looks kinda shakey to me, not to mention my bike and dog climbing it too, but I did watch Mission Impossible last night, and stayed at a Holiday Inn once, and lived to talk about it, so here goes...

WOW!! A wormhole back in time.

In the food court area, I noticed a garbage bin with a PCL logo on it. I'm wondering if PCL took over from Bondfield? This may explain the accelerated efforts recently.

The fitting out of the York Concourse is not being handled by Bondfield as it is not part of the "official' Union Station work . Fitting out is up to the tenants (or the Head Lessee, Osmington.)

Speaking of saving so much time, that it feels like time travel:

I don't think the pedestrian expressway is long enough to enable enough speed to trigger time travel. Whether an 88kph DeLorean or a running Flash superhero. But...

Even opening just 1/2 width -- even with ugly construction hoarding in the Bay Concourse section -- just opening one of these routes partially -- would be a big help to navigating Union.

It'd be almost as good as time travel, compared to the maze quagmire near TTC that eats unsuspecting tourists for breakfast.

*ahem* miles per hour sir. You aint getting nowhere fast in Km per hour...

Looking at that map... I guess they originally planned to maintain the tunnel to Royal York Hotel? Must have changed their minds pretty early on.

Does anyone know the specific location of the Union Station Loading Dock? It feels like a large amount of space being used up as it would be great if the Food Court had access to the south (potentially underneath loading dock) to connect to the South Concourse.
