One of the tallest buildings planned for Toronto will break ground this month. Not in our bustling Downtown Core, nor the growing midtown node at Yonge and Eglinton, but in the fast-rising Humber Bay Shores area of South Etobicoke. With the taller of two towers coming in at a height of 709 feet, Empire Communities' Eau du Soleil Condos will include the tallest building in Etobicoke. An even more impressive statistic, the taller 63-storey tower of the Zeidler Partnership Architects and Richmond Architects-designed development will be the tallest building located outside of a downtown area in the entire country.

Empire Communities has announced that the ground breaking for the ambitious development will occur on Saturday May 23rd on the project site, on Marine Parade Drive just south of Lake Shore Boulevard West. The event, which is open to the community, will include live performances and food trucks.

The ground breaking will act as a ceremonial kick off to the construction process, though shoring work has already begun on site. The yellow shoring rig can be seen in the centre of the image below.

As work begins on excavation for the project, sales press on for the development's remaining condominium units. Ranging in size from 480 square feet up to 1,243 square feet, many of Eau du Soleil's Terrace Collection suites are still available for purchase, offering the dramatic skyline and lake views that Humber Bay Shores high-rise developments have come to be known for, but boasting much larger outdoor spaces than are typically offered.

Residents of the Terrace Collection suites will have access to the same extensive selection of amenities as all Eau du Soleil residents, including a party room with kitchen, wet bar and lounge area, a billiard/games room with card and pool tables, theatre rooms, a gym, an indoor saltwater pool and hot tub, lounges, private dining rooms with kitchens, meeting rooms, and multiple boardrooms.

Additional information and renderings can be found in our dataBase file for the project, linked below. Want to get involved in the discussion? Check out the associated Forum threads, or leave a comment in the section provided at the bottom of this page.
