Construction is well under way at Toronto's venerable Boulevard Club located along Lake Shore Boulevard as it rounds Humber Bay. The club's new West Wing, designed by Teeple Architects, is a modern replacement for the recreational facility's recently demolished 1920s-era West Wing, which after decades of freezing and thawing cycles on the waterfront was showing severe signs of age.

The image above provides a view of the recently insulated steel frame structure as seen from King Street, on the ridge above the Gardiner Expressway. The towers of Etobicoke's Humber Bay Shores area rise on the other side of the bay in the background. The new wing is now awaiting its exterior cladding, which is depicted below in a rendering of the development as seen from the lake. By choosing Teeple Architects, the Boulevard Club signalled their desire for an avant grade design for the new wing. Two earlier existing phases can be seen in the middle and right background of the rendering.

The Boulevard Club's new facility will feature a badminton centre, a 3,000 square-foot multi-purpose room, sports therapy treatment rooms, a spa and lounge areas with lake views. In addition, the building will add new men's and women's locker rooms, each containing their own steam room and sauna, as well as girls', boys' and family locker rooms.
