We stopped by the site of Parallax Investment Corporation's Downtown Condos at Wellington West to check in on the recently completed condominium development at Portland and Wellington Streets just west of Toronto's core. Designed by Sweeny &Co Architects Inc., the 11-storey building has shed all signs of construction activity, and many of its 90 condominium units are now occupied.

The development was innovative with its flexible and modular design, one which allows walls to be knocked out to connect adjacent units should purchasers want to double-up suites.

Downtown Condos features a sleek contemporary exterior with wood and brick adding some warmth on the building's lower floors. In front of the building, the semi-public space by landscape architects Ferris + Associates Inc. ties the building in with the sidewalk and street. In the image below, the recently planted greenery of this landscaped space is still young, and will fill out over the summer.
